Default 981 Spyder Top Closing via key?

I've searched and searched and can't find an answer to this one.

I know you can begin the closing process of the 981 Spyder top by holding down the unlock key on your key fob.

But is there an equivalent way to complete the top closing process, or do I always need to go back in the car and use the center console button to latch the top?

Thanks in advance
Tom

I had the same question. I swear I remember someone stating that it was possible. Maybe it's another one of those options that the lawyers killed for North America due to liability concerns? Can anyone ROW chime in?

I'm also in the UK, and after a tip off from Paul Graville, I can say it is possible to lock the roof with the key fob.
You just need to put your hand inside the window and pull the roof forward towards the header rail, the keep the lock button pressed.
The electric latch does its bit, then the Windows will go up to complete the shut up.

Tried it yesterday and it works..... Result.

Be interesting to hear if you guys in the US can do this..

Unless I'm doing it wrong, I can report no success.

Just had another go and learned the doors need to be shut.

So hand in the window to pull the roof forward then once latched remove hand from window before the windows come up.....
This maybe where your lawyers got involved !!!

I had my roof up and down several times before I even went near the switches on the console.

In fact I tried it using them ultimately just to check that they worked.

Just tried this and no go on this side of the pond.
But just to be 100% sure, how are you "pull[ing] the roof forward," exactly?

Thanks in advance

Just need to have your hand through the window grabbing the roof and making sure its far enough forward for the latch to catch in its hole.

Then just hold the lock button down on the key fob and let it do it's magic !!

That is what I was wondering as well. I only have the enthusiast version of Durametric and which doesn't have the option. Hopefully someone with access can confirm if this is possible? I certainly hope so as it would be way easier to do this versus having to put the key in the ignition and reach over to the button on the center console.

I have a smarttop on my 991 cab that enables remote opening / closing from the key fob that isn't allowed in the US, wonder if they could get it to work for this?

It also does cool things like allowing you to remotely put both windows down (or up) on a hot day.

Was going to sell it when my Spyder arrives - maybe I should hang onto it.
