Seems pretty normal to me but I have been hammered for so long on Porsche service that I have lost all sense of normal anymore. I just hand them my credit card without looking at the invoice. If you really want to light yourself on fire, buy a GT3RS and actually use it. I suspect a Veyron is cheaper to run.

Yep, in NYC everything is at a premium and the Porsche Dealership here is no different. Doesn't help that our Porsche dealership is also the Bugatti, Bentley, and Lamborghini Dealership. Had they grouped Porsche with Audi and VW across the street we might have fared a little better. Basically they have us on an island and they know it - do I want to take or bridge or tunnel and some valuable time and shop around - not really.

Veyron's service costs $21k. A set of tires goes for $30k and only lasts 2,500 miles. The wheels last 10,000 miles and it cost $50k a set.

I suspect the paper floormat that they use when the valets greet you at the service drive costs $300 per sheet.

Funny my Audi dealer just quoted my wife $700 to put on new brake pads and sensors on her Q7. That's not for the pads and sensors, that's just the labor. Yeah.....no.

Pelican has the OEM manufacture oil filter for $18.00 and the drain plug gasket for a big 25 cents. Walmart has the oil for $26.00 for a 5qt. jug. I will more than 1 oil filter and drain plug gasket when I order for my 997. my last oil change was $64 plus tax on the oil.

As an fyi for anyone in the KC area that wants to do their own oil change (or wants to drive here), I have a Durametric Pro and am willing to help do the oil life reset for you. Just pm me if interested.

I used the local dealership for the annual service on my Spyder as well. They could learn a LOT about how to take care of a customer from the Hendrick Toyota dealership across the street. I was not at all pleased with the overall level of service they provided, but of course they must have known that because they never bothered to send me a survey.

That's where they went wrong with me, they sent me a survey a week after the change and I blasted them. The local Volvo dealer on the other hand was by far the best dealer service experience I have had other than being too busy. Amazing that they don't realize it.

OP, I believe that is about what Park Place Porsche in Dallas charges for 981 oil change. I do DIY for $65 in parts using Mobil 1 and Mahle filter with new o-ring and drain plug gasket. Amazon has the 5 qt containers of 0W-40 cheap, free 2-day shipping with Prime.

At my local dealer, the charge for the annual service is $379. Same for my Turbo, GT4 and Cayenne diesel. I asked what it was for just the oil change- same price $379, because they do the same thing...

I ordered 3 oil change kits for each of my cars from suncoast
Cost $111 shipped
Mobil 1 Oil Amazon $22. Per 5 qt x 6 $132

3 cars for $243 bucks !!!! Vs atleast grand at the local dealer for all 3

(Last service for my cayenne ) at new country Porsche $559 for oil change and fuel filter. I asked how is it possible you billed me for 2 hours of service when I have only been here for 45 mins.
The reply was priceless we had two people working on your car !
Can't make it up.

So out of anger and Spite went purchased
1 time cost durametric $300 tool and a lift $2000
Not long before they are paid for in service savings
Plus extra garage storage space is a free bonus

If you don't want to buy a lift you can buy 2 sets of jack stands and a floor jack. You will also need a oil filter tool and allen wrench set. I bought my oil filter tool years ago at NAPA and it's on it's 5th Porsche. I only let the dealer do my oil change once at $250.00 and that was at the 40,000 miles service. At what they charged me I should have done that service. I feel a car guy or girl should do some work on there cars, but that is just me as I enjoy working on my cars.

I have been debating trying this approach since the thought of bringing it to a dealer or even an Indy that's an hour each way doesn't excite me.

Out of curiosity, what are you using to collect the oil? Do you drive your car to warm up the oil before the change? If yes is the clearance underneath with jack stands reasonable? I already have the oil change tool and a durametric will pay for itself with two oil changes so it makes sense.

Hell my stock C2 I didn't even need to jack up the car to change the oil. Your Spyder sits lower so you will have to jack it up. I bought the aluminum jack stands from harbor freight http://www.harborfreight.com/3-ton-a...nds-91760.html at $40. I bought these for test and tune at the track as they are light and I have many heavy steel ones and I find that I use these all the time now. I use a drain pan https://www.google.com/shopping/prod...5T-_-205152504 just wear a rubber glove and hold the drain plug up to the pan till the flow slows down or it will splash. Yes warm up the motor. This is the easiest DIY on our cars. And make sure that the oil filer cap is tight or you will a code but with the Durametric you can rest it. Ask me how I know about this. It's a easy job and you can change your air filter also.
