Wow, I think it looks freaking awesome in that video on the Porsche.de site. The things I like about the 718 Boxster, the subtle change to the lines, especially the more muscular rear haunches, look even better on the Cayman. With the right suspension/stance and wheels, that car is going to look like a beast.

The week before last I was in Germany and I saw my first 718 Boxster in person. I was struck by the effect of the seemingly very slight changes in the sheet metal. The rear fenders and particularly the area around the front hood looked very good in person. I believe that almost all of the sheet metal is new in these cars. As you said, these new features seem to work even better on the Cayman.

I agree with this, very well put.

I think Porsche mauled the new 991.2 exterior, but I think they got this car really right. X73 suspension and nice wide wheels and that Cayman S is going to be a super looking car.

It looks like the Cayman grew up. Looks more Porsche-like than any of the predecessors. I thought the 981 introduced more of the old 911 style into the car and I think this car just took it a step further. It's instantly recognizable as a Porsche now IMO. I do not like those wheels on the blue launch car at all, but the driving scenes with the two cars - those cars looked awesome.

I'm surprised that the 718 Boxster is just $2,100 more than the 718 Cayman. In the 911 world there is a whopping $12,300 price spread between the coupe and the cab. I certainly wasn't expecting such a large spread for the 718, but I did think it would be more than $2,100.
The configurator also lists identical weights for the 718 Boxster and Cayman and identical 0-60 times. Yet Road & Track states:
"The 718 Cayman should be substantially quicker and better handling than the Boxster, since it saves weight in not having a folding soft top. Porsche says 0-60 mph times for the Cayman and Cayman S are 4.5 and 4.0 seconds, respectively, which are 0.4 seconds quicker than the Boxter and Boxster S."

Not sure where the R&T folks are getting their numbers, but it sure isn't off of Porsche's official website. To say the Cayman should be "substantially quicker and better handling" than the Boxster also causes me to raise an eyebrow, particularly since hp between the cars is now equal.
I guess my pro-Boxster bias is showing

From the pictures Cayman starting to resemble 911 with long hood and big rear fenders. This is the best looking Cayman by far. I like it a lot, may be I should stop collecting watches and buy this car for the wife.
