Question Help required with PDK problem please

I have a problem with the PDK transmission in my 2010 Boxster S and in spite of searching extensively, I am unable to find any reference to it anywhere.

Symptoms:

(1) When the key is inserted into the ignition, all of the transmission shift lights (P,R,N,D) flash on and off continuously
(2) The shift lever is locked in "Park" and will not move no matter what I try
(3) The shift lights stop flashing when the ignition is switched on
(4) The car will not start. When the key is turned all the way around to the "Start" position a warning message pops up in the speedometer saying: "Move transmission to P or N" - or something very like that

In short, the engine management computer seems to think that the transmission is in gear, when it is not - well the shifter says that it is not.

The battery has been checked and that is not causing this problem.

My GoPoint OBD scanner shows no error codes on the car.

The problem occurred on a day when the car had been driven - parked for perhaps 10 minutes and then would not start after I returned to it.

The dealer I purchased this car from say that they have never seen this problem before.

Any suggestions as to the cause would be gratefully received :-)

I had something similar a couple years ago.
The scan they performed showed it was some bad sensor in the transmission.
The entire transmission was replaced under warranty.

The dealer needs to connect their computer and figure out what the problem is.

A technician will need to connect to the computer to read the codes. The ODB II reader generally only reads codes that are connected to emissions and engine management. Specific Porsche codes (like the transmission) require something like the durametric code reader (http://www.durametric.com/) to retrieve and interpret them. If you like to/want to DIY the repair or future repairs, this code reader is a good start.
