718 boxster or 2015 981 gts

Thanks for that. Yes, it is a fantasy realized. I've long wanted a Porsche. Been kicking tires for years while driving Audis and BMWs. Incidentally, I'd been looking very closely at a BGTS in Carmine Red because last spring after learning of the GT4, I inquired with the SA who helped my wife acquire her Macan S. After he stopped laughing, he said it was unlikely they'd get another GT4 allocation. Then in late fall and nearing a decision to purchase the BGTS, I asked once more about the GT4. The SA excitedly told me they'd just gotten one more allocation. The rest is history.
PS: While I'm sure I'd have loved the supermodel, I suspect the GT4 will stay with me for longer. 😉

In my mind, either/or. The GTS as flat 6 NA is great, but the easy power gains from modding the flat 4 turbo 718 are attractive. I've owned a modded Subaru in the past so the noise doesn't bother me. That said I love the flat 6 NA sound, hence the GT4 incoming (my first Porsche too, I'll enjoy my time with the supermodel )

No decision in my mind, I go back to 2002 when I traded my 98 C2S for a 2002 C4S - air to water too me is not that far off from NA to Turbo- NA all the way !

I have a Syder and had a 981S. The GTS wasn't available when I purchased the S.
Bottom line, the 981S was an awesome car. I honestly felt it was nearly supercar good just short on ultimate acceleration. I did have PDK and PASM and it was just an all round perfect ride, whether in the city, or on the back roads, the car was a joy.
The Spyder is a special car, more raw, more immediate. Aesthetically I think it is one of the most beautiful modern production Porsche's of recent memory. The optional LWBS are by far the best seasts I've owned though I'm sure in the summer I'll miss the ventilated seats on my S. The X73 is about as perfect as a passive suspension can be but there isn't multiple settings.
I guess what I'm saying is the S or GTS is one of the best dual purpose sports car available especially when configured with PDK, PASM, TV, SC heard and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, Etc. (I guess a similar argument can be made for the 991 GTS cab as well)
If you want it a little more Spyder like you can go for the MT and the X73. Sure you can get the 718 Similarly equipped and it will be faster overall but how much is 1/2 second 0-60 worth to you. Are you going to live and die being a few ticks faster to the quarter mile.
A turbo 4 changes the nature of the 981, the power delivery, the response and the sound. Some people like the instant torque. Me I'd take the 9k redline GT3 3.8 flat 6 over any. Short of that, the last gen NA 3.4 and 3.8 are some of the best engines Porsche has made. Having the 3.4 tucked within a GTS wrapper should make for a wonderful ride.

ok guys
I was able to secure the last new 2015 boxster gts with manual transmission in Canada.
black, silver wheels. Standard GTS black interior, torque vectoring, red gauges/chrono red seat belts, 18 way heated seats, Bose and bi-xenon. Price reduction of $8000. great deal. 2500 miles away from me.
The GTS has PASM as standard. The Spyder does not have electronic dampners?

Congrats. I do like the full leather though. that was the one option I regretted not getting on my 981BS. Still, your's is a sweet build and great deal. And you got the best color. Lol
Sometimes I miss the old girl. Like on those iffy days when your not sure if it will rain or not. Great ride. Enjoy yours.
