Great stuff, Shaun! So much eye candy.

The #17 Rothman '87 LeMans winner is one of my favorites. Such domination by the 962s in that era. And the Singer Lightweight . . . . that 850 lbs in weight savings doesn't come cheap!

Sure hope to get to Goodwood someday . . .

Thanks for posting.

Nice to see the new Speedster in the flesh. I wonder if it's a one-off or the actual production model?

They are calling it the Concept, so I guess a few details will change.

As discussed more thoroughly in another forum here, and as is usually the case, there are several features on the concept not anticipated to make it into final production, the mirrors and fuel center-fill being among them as I recall.

Those mirrors look terrible anyway.

Confirmation by AP at 2:00 that center-fill fuel and mirrors will be a no-go on the production model:

The Speedster quells once and for all the debate over whether there would ever be a top-down GT product and goes down in history, I suppose, as the first such car. For a while there, it seemed plausible that the 718 Spyder might claim that title. If, indeed, the next Spyder is a GT product, it's sort of a bummer that the Speedster beat it out for this distinction.

Certainly, the Speedster now opens the door and paves the way for the next-gen Spyder to be a GT offering since the requirement of a tin-top no longer appears to be a GT requisite.

Agreed Nick. But yeesh... who will get one of these Speedsters? Another 918 unobtainium, tickle-me-Elmo spin off?

Sad to see the center fuel filler and mirrors go. They really make the car. Maybe there'll be some after market stuff that comes out.

I think Porsche didn't try harder enough with the Speedster. It still looks like 2 separate cars to me and not one cohesive design. Somehow to my eyes the whole front of the car is screaming for a redesign. The tank in the middle is great. That front just doesn't do it. It deserves a different front.
