Closest the Spyder has come to the Wild lately - trying to get some miles on the other one.

Yesterday we had Space Coast PCA Porsches and Planes at TICO Warbird Musuem in Titusville. Three 981 Spyders were in attendance.

We used to take the Boy Scout troop to High Point State Park when I lived in NY.

Crazy good. I'd be so hard pressed to chose. I've made the BOLD statement that these Spyders at 86 - 90% of GT3's (997.2's) I have driven. What's your thoughts?

Both awesome cars. Neither are substitutes for the other imo.

But seriously - how so? Please expand! Details! I find they're both BONKERS cars, Vs. the 993 I have that is a completely different ride, generation of technology etc...

Super interested in GT3's but don't want to duplicate what I have.

Thanks!

The more I see the 987 Spyder the more I appreciate it.

When I first started looking at Boxster's a 987 Spyder was the only one I could find locally. Didn't really know what it was, exactly. White and black, just like yours. I never considered it because it was beat to hell. Clearly a track car that lived a very, very hard life. It wouldn't start and the dealership had no idea how to pop the frunk. It bounced around several different used lots around town for almost a year before finally disappearing. No idea if the dealers were taking turns offloading it on each other or if some poor schlubs kept getting suckered in only to offload it at a different dealership weeks/months later.

When I bought mine, the previous owner told me: "I am the second owner. The first one tracked it heavily. It was a good test, and still it has the porsche approved warranty. Please, do as I did: drive it like you stole it". Well, I am doing that anytime I can (unfortunately she has to spare my -limited- time with the other princess in the garage). Let me share another shot and then I promise I stop. This was taken just before parking it after the Sunday trip.

Post as many pics as you want!!!

I love my 981 BGTS but sometimes wonder if I should have taken a gamble on that beat to heck Spyder. Had around 40K miles and they were asking around $43K when I looked at it. I'm sure it could have been had for much, much less over time. Could have afforded to drop quite a bit into fixing it up at that point. Would have weighed on my mind though.

Plus I like my automatic top and ventilated seats. Two huge factors for buying a Boxster in the first place.

Awwww... ventilated seats. One of my hidden dreams (not joking. I hate sweating after some proper driving. Still to be checked what happens with Alcantara but with leather is a nightmare). Regarding the top, the fact that takes time is overrated. In 3 minutes you can take it on or off, alone, and not being the master of roofs. Well, I am not. At all.
Probably, if I decide to keep it, next year I'll go for a full respray (stone-chips everywhere) but what I love is that now I do not have to care of any additional stone chip. I just enjoy it.
In July we go for the renewal of the Porsche Approved (a must of me, I do not want to have hidden surprises) and then back again on the road.
I must say that I am really enjoying this car. It would just deserve 100Nm more

It took 9 months to find a 981 BGTS with the spec I wanted. Hardest thing to find was ventilated seats. If I could have ventilated the seats in my 2001 Miata I probably wouldn't have a Boxster.

I hear ya on the top. I watched a video on YouTube just so I could show the dealership that had it how to do it! The problem is the weather around here. It's wildly unpredictable. I kid you not when I say it can be raining on my driveway and dry as a bone on my back patio. You never know when it might stop or start a deluge. Being able to just push a button in traffic is a lifesaver. If I lived in a more reasonably predictable climate it would have been a tougher decision.
