Default What makes that 981 Spyder / GT4 sound SO good?

Quick question - does anybody know WHY the new Spyder and GT4 sound SO good? What's in, or NOT in, the muffler? Xrays?

And seriously, maybe the Gen-1 Spyder mufflers need a bit of surgery and removal of stuff. Ideas?

^ I just thought it was the 3.8 tuned to make a little extra noise.

Um ... 3.8?

I bet the 987 Spyders with 3.8 conversion sound pretty good as well ...

3.8 vs 3.4, no doubt. I have a Tubi exhaust on my 987 spyder, and though it sounds worlds better than the stock exhaust, it still pales in comparison to my GT4 w/ factory exhaust.

I'm sort of already used to the sound, but the first day, when I was driving the canyons of Manhattan, it was sonorously wonderful ear candy.

3.8. The 991S with PSE sounds awesome as well. Just less intake noise in the cabin on the 991.

I find that the exhaust sound of both the GT4 and Spyder are not consistent. It seems to be dependent rpm, speed, throttle position and probably a couple of other factors... For anyone who has had exhaust flaps permanently open, is there still that variation?
