I originally had Black spec'd and now I've changed to Jet black as I think it gives the car a touch more dimension especially in the sun where I think it really looks beautiful. What do you all think

Jet black. The added dimension in sunlight and it's probably better at hiding dirt, swirls etc than flat black.

Maybe it is because the car is inside but the black one looks awesome. Non metallic colors are easier to repair for paint nicks. Seeing the black almost make me want to change from my planned GT silver.

Flat black for me. Simple, classy, sporty and mean. To me, metallic just makes it look flashy.

Have flat black on my Spyder, had jet black metallic on my GTS.....both looked great, jet black hid the dirt much better.

One of the big reasons I prefer flat to metallic in black is because I think the flat paint blends into the tires and wheels better. It has shine, but not the more complex sparkle. When I look at a metallic black car, the paint pops with a sparkle in the sun and the transition to the wheels makes the car look almost dirty to me. With flat, it just seems to flow seamlessly into the tire/wheels and work as one cohesive whole. Just how my eye sees it, especially in the pics above. But then I'm not a huge fan of many metallic colors on a sports car.

Also, flat black still strikes me as simple and mean when it's dirty, but when metallic is dirty it seems like it's just screaming to be washed.

Metallic black always looks off-black to me. The flakes cast off a hue that makes the black look unclean if you know what I am trying to say. Jet black is awesome.

Believe me, as my current 981BS is flat black, when flat black gets dirty it screams clean me too, boy how it screams

I was set on flat black, and never liked basalt black but after seeing jet black now I have a color dilemma. I'll probably stick with jet as my last 2 Boxsters where flat black.

Fun question. I love the practicality of the metallic blacks due to less visible swirl marks and less show of dirt, but the rich, deep look of flat black is stunning, and second to none. As any shop will tell you, flat black is the easiest paint match, which is nice. With either, you should strongly consider a clear bra to protect against rock chips that will become very apparent w/out it. And it goes w/out saying, but no machine wash! Hand wash only! And invest in a good random orbital, polish, sealant or other protectant, and other cleaning products from one of the good providers out there, e.g. Griot's,

If it were me, I would say: if this is to be a more pampered garage car, go flat; if it's a work horse, go jet.

FWIW: I saw and drove a flat black Spyder a few weeks ago. While I happen to prefer a few other colors on the Spyder and am still licking my wounds from the last black p-car I owned, I must say that I really liked the depth of the flat black. Sharp looking car!
