You gotta be thrilled with how nicely it's all come together!

Scoops and seats are my two favorite mods by far, with taibow's 12 o'clock wheel marker tape coming in a close third

Attempted to carbon wrap the rear spoiler, as well as do some vinyl trim pieces... I'm really just messing around and practicing, it's harmless fun.

The 3M CARBON vinyl is incredibly forgiving and flexible, even so trying to get it to fit in one piece around the complex spoiler shape was a task to great for my meager talents. I think this would have to be done in two separate pieces but then there would be a visible joint. May have to abandon this idea but looked pretty decent overall. The little red vinyl bits look good on the black trim, not sure if I'll keep those, again, fun to experiment.

You are 100% correct on your statements regarding the IPD package. We have had great luck on installing the package on the 981 vehicle's coming to our facility. Of the five we have done, only one did not adapt quickly enough to not set a check engine light (MAF codes). The CEL is by no means harmful, just anooying to some to keep clearing until the ECU has the time it needs to adapt to the increased air intake from the larger throttle body in particular. The surefire way to prevent the CEL issue is to stop by your local Porsche dealership and have them do a quick calibration of the throttle body that can only be accomplished with the Porsche Piwiz scan tool.

From our experience and those of our customers in CA, passing the SMOG sniff test in a non-issue with our HJS catalytic converters. However, for CARB certification every 2 years (I believe a little longer length of time if it is a new car) "strict" shops look for CARB certification numbers that would be present on factory catalytic converters, and would not be present on high flow catalytic converters, regardless of passing the sniff test. The majority of our customers have no problem finding a lenient shop that does not look so closely at their cats. Those that do not have a shop like this put back their factory cats for a day to pass the test. The possibility of few hours of work every few years is a small price to pay for the enhanced driving experience that comes with upgrading the exhaust system.

To note...I've been told that if you have a vehicle older than 1990 you can have it registered as an antique for $25, and you never have to worry about emissions ever again. Just a fun fact for those with some true classics in their possession haha.

Default Syder Trans axle drain plug in non-magnetic

I bought a replacement trans axle drain plug for my car in preparation for the 2000 mile post break in gear oil change. It is all aluminum with M18 X 1.5 threads and needs a seal ring. I've got a magnetic drain plug on the way from Dimple.


As shown in the photo the drain plug carries P/N 981 301 813 00 and the seal part number is 900 123 106 30.

The drain plug looks a lot like the engine oil drain plug from my 987.

This is the first I've heard about gear oil changing? Can you elaborate a little.

Default Post break in fluid changes

At 2000 miles I plan to change my engine oil/filter and trans axle fluid and install magnetic drain plugs and LN spin on oil filter adapter. The trans axle oil is Mobil PTX 75W90 which came from SunCoast, a little over three liters. I spoke with one of the dealer techs and he looked up the trans axle oil change procedure and no PIWIS involvement is required thankfully. I'll send samples off for analysis.

Played with some left over scraps of CF wrap again to see what windshield header would look like... placing this stuff is tough, if I were to do it seriously it would take me a lot of practice to get right.

Getting better at the red pin stripe detailing though..

You don't need to look back in the thread, all instructions to mount the scoops are provided with the kit from suncoastparts.. use the provided adhesive, use the holes provided in the replacement black scoops, and then drill two small holes in the rocker panels (one above the scoop and one below) to further secure the scoops.

Meaning the level of difficulty to access area or time involved to
install them.

Looking for some input
Just picked up a new spyder, adding ipd plenum and 82 mm TB with Cobb AP this week ( have this set set up on my 13 tts with Kline exhaust which is awesome )

I am looking to add new manifolds to complete the mods for this car.
So as far as I know and please correct me I f I'm wrong, there are only 3 manufacturers currently making manifolds for 981 . So looking for feed back from anyone that has installed them
Fab speed ( which I'm not a fan of , I was one of the unfortunate purchasers of their max flow exhaust for 04 996 tt which was the worst 3 grand I have spent on a mod.) so hesitant to give them any more $$$$

Cargraphic seems to always get great reviews but seems hard to find a US retailer that has any in the country

Fvd which always seems to deliver great products

So welcome thoughts and suggestions

Awesome! How did you end up securing the GT4 lip? I was under the impression they wouldn't fit - did you do anything to the center section to make sure it'd stay put or did it pop right on?

Also, for the side pieces above the lip, at the wheel wells - got part numbers for them?

The dealer did the install and said it was pretty easy. The main lip snapped in like normal along with the vertical pieces. They had to add a few screws on the under tray. No other mods needed.
It's worth the small cost. I'm doing some other cool stuff as well. I'll post more pictures when its completed.

Has anyone considered putting a GT4 wing on their Spyder? Along with a GT4 front lip, I believe this could really transform the look (and aerodynamics) of the car.
