"I worry about the 'worry free' aspect of it."
I think you may have answered your own question right here.

I have a 2008 f430 f1, awesome car. It is an experience every drive I take with it. Comparing it to any Porsche is not easy, totally different cars. Definitely be ready for lookers and questions if you get the Ferrari.

The Porsche looks beautiful and the other car not so much, but yeah, I'm sure the Ferrari drives well. Ferrari's design inspirations seem lost in space or something.

Since you have already owned a Porsche why not try the Ferrari? I have owned 3 Porsches (89 Carrera, 89 930 and now a 996 GT3) and while I enjoyed them all, they don't sound or look as good as the Ferrari. Ferraris are still a pretty rare sight, Porsches on the other hand are getting a lot more common.

If you buy a 6sp MT convertible and end up not liking the experience then I don't think you will have to much trouble selling it for another Porsche.

As stated above, many Ferraris have low miles. Some of that, I think, is due to the perception that maintenance is prohibitive, which is not true in the newer models.

My current dilemma is whether or not to sell my GT3 to get a Spyder (new or previous generation) to be a stable mate for the Ferrari.

Porsche used a 911 engine, so 20 years from now there should be many suitable replacement parts in the USA if needed....

enough said on that...

Long term, the Porsche will be running long after I am dead...

On this...go with the heart. Generally in life we make enough decisions with the head. Just do your homework on the Fcar, doubt you'll go wrong.
