Default Spyder as daily driver

Currently driving a Boxster GTS as a DD but considering ordering a Spyder. Any Spyder owners out there want to weigh in on this?

I've found it to be fine for daily use, not too loud with the exhaust off and comfortable on longer motorway runs.

I think there would be only one drawback, the trunk accessibility with the top up. If you get the sport buckets they also aren't easy for passengers to get in/out of unless they know the technique. Some get it quickly and others don't Otherwise the Spyder is perfect!

I would add the approach angle as well, as the Spyder is lower and the front bumper is longer than the lip of the standard or GTS.

Hey Marine Blue, how have the sport buckets treated you comfort wise?

I'm a big fan of the sport buckets, they are very comfortable and supportive. My wife has also commented that they are very comfortable and we have trips up to 7 hours with out issues.

The buckets also bring a another level of connecctedness to the car, you now only get the feedback from the steering but you also feel like you are connected to the car while still comfortable.

My only gripe is that they top portion of the seats angles in too far and my shoulders feel like they are being pushing forward slightly. I think the newer seats may have addressed this.

+100000

One should try driving the same car, once with normal seats and once with buckets. The difference is day and night.

Not really....I just spent two days lapping in Birmingham (US) in GT3's, GT4's with and without buckets, the Porsche buckets are not real race seats. No effect on lap times/etc. Could be for you...but not for everyone.

I sat in a 911 Turbo with the old GT two buckets this weekend, I am only a 3132 inch waist, but I was surprised at how tight they were in the seat area, they also felt slightly more upright then I remember from when I tried the LWB I got to sit in briefly.

Sport seats. 1) seat heater for Colorado mountains 2) my experience vs buckets is it does not make any difference in how fast I can drive 3) at 6'2" getting in/out of buckets is much harder due to high side bolster

I do like the looks of the buckets, but I also like the look of sport seats.

I don't think this should be your only car just because of trunk space but if your not worried about that, and if your not worried about speed bumps then go at it. The suspension set up is just perfect!!! Its comfortable on long drives but a real drivers car in the corners. If you worry about seats, then 18 way it is.

Never claimed there would be a difference in lap times.

As a daily driver, I think it all revolves around the roof. Are you willing to open and close the manual roof at least 4 times a day?

I though so.
