will be interesting to see how these power gains which come without any hardware upgrades, would stack up to the fabspeed headers and exhaust gains we are seeing on the other thread. some massive gaines in hp and tq in the midrange especially with the fabspeed stuff... how would the cobb + fabspeed compare?

From a thread on planet 9 from another user....
Back on topic, here's a copy of my post in the other COBB vs IPD plenumicon thread. Figured it has relevance here since I just finished dynoing my car with the COBB tune... this would be considered a "stage 2" setup of sorts...
All right guys, I just got back from the dyno. Mitch and John were awesome and very accommodating. They are still finalizing some parameters for the plenumAll right guys, I just got back from the dyno. Mitch and John wereawesome and very accommodating. They are still finalizing someparameters for the plenum (http://www.planet-9.com/)mod for idle and low speed, but for WOT, it's all there. I'm just goingto give the Cliff Notes below. I will post up dynographs once I receivethem from the dyno shop. mod for idle and low speed, but for WOT, it's all there. I'm just going to give the Cliff Notes below. When I baselined with headers, exhaust, and intake filters my Cayman S made 295 whp/249 trq on 91 octane with the stock tune.
Adding a 91 octane COBB tune the car made 318 whp /264 trq (+23 whp, +15 trq)
Adding a 93 octane COBB tune the car made 321 whp /267 trq (+26 whp, +18 trq)
Adding the IPD plenum on the existing tune, the car made more torque in the midrange but no gain on top.
So John and Mitch began modifying the tune to benefit from the larger TB and plenum. The results?
91 octane retune adding the IPD plenum, the car made 325 whp / 275 trq (+7 whp, +9 trq)
93 octane retune adding the IPD plenum, the car made 331 whp / 277 trq (+10 whp, +10trq)
I never dyno'd my car when it was bone stock, however, most dynojet put the 981 Cayman S right around the 275 whp mark. So the takeaway from all this?
981 Cayman S + Intake filters, IPD Plenum, GT3 TB, Cargraphic race headers, Borla Exhaust981 Cayman S + Intake filters, IPD Plenum, GT3 TB, Cargraphic race headers, Borla Exhaust (http://www.borla.com) & COBB tune = 50 whp increase over stock & COBB tune = 50 whp increase over stock

Most of our initial testing was done on cars that were either completely stock hardware wise or had a simple bolt-on exhaust installed. As arter mentioned, adding additional airflow modifications will certainly be beneficial. We are already working with such modifications to develop a staged upgrade path with accompanying Off The Shelf (free) maps.

Would this additional equipment be relevant for a new 2.7?
These results are great, would the parts carry over to a 2.7? If so, Cobb should put out a stage 2 kit with the rest of these goodies including the tune to make it easy, and many 2.7 owners would end up with somewhere around Cayman S performance (or buy an S!), for a lot less.

*************************IMPORTANT UPDATE****************************
We've released Beta firmware which will get everyone with a C20 ROM up and running very soon. The first step will be for everyone who has been waiting for support to update to Beta firmware. Here are the instructions on how to complete that process:
1) Install AP Manager 2.1.1.12 if you haven't done so already. Here is the download link: COBB Tuning - Accessport Manager
Once the software is installed, go ahead and load it up.
2) Plug in your Accessport. If you have Windows XP, make sure you click on the "Found new hardware" prompt to install the driver for the Accessport. If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7/8.1/10 or Mac OSX the driver will be installed automatically.
3) Click on "Options" button in the middle of the functions bar and check the box for "Allow beta firmware updates" in the "Updates" subsection. This step is critical.
4) Next, Click on "Updates" button in the functions bar and click on the "Begin firmware update" button in the upper right corner.
The firmware update should only take a few minutes. When it is done, click on the "AP Info" button in the functions bar and confirm your firmware version is now 1.7.2.0-11439 or higher. If so, go ahead and plug the Accessport into your vehicle and continue on with the installation process.
From here, there will be two groups of you. One group will be able to install immediately. You'll be given the option to select your octane appropriate Stage 1 map and you'll complete the install process as normal. The second group will receive the unsupported ROM message and you'll be prompted to the user tools functionality to download your ROM. We'll need to collect these ROMs from you as quickly as possible to hopefully have support up and ready for you as early as today. Here are the instructions for how to download your unsupported ROM, transfer it from your Accessport to your computer, and then email it to us:
COBB Tuning – V3 Accessport User Dump Tool for downloading ROMs
Please email those ROMs directly to support@cobbtuning.com if you do not already have a support ticket open with us.
Once we receive those emails from those of you with unsupported ROMs, our goal is to have you supported within a few hours. Thanks again everyone for your patience and if you have any questions, please let me know!

so I have a 2013 981 base and just ordered the fabspeed supercup exhaust, heads, IPD, 82mm throttle body and the Cobb tune. What are the different stage tunes available for this application?

You'll get it, other than the headers the software is the biggest restriction point on the car
