Default FABSPEED MOTORSPORT | 981 Boxster/Cayman TrackTec Valve Bypass Exhaust System

Our esteemed sporty Maxflo Exhaust tone is now available with a raw racecar roar and extra power at the press of a button thanks to our new TrackTec Exhaust System complete with muffler bypass valves.

One exhaust, two unique tones.

Fabspeed’s engineers are always tinkering, and this time around, we decided to try something a little different. We incorporated muffler bypass valves into the inlet pipes of our existing Maxflo Exhaust System to unleash a true straight piped racecar-like tone at the press of a button. The prototype system received an abundance of attention with a very positive response and the dyno results showed that some nice power was picked up. With all of the boxes checked, we are now proud to offer the innovative TrackTec Valve Bypass Exhaust for those looking for something unique for their Boxster or Cayman.

Sound: With valves closed, the familiar refined and sporty tone of the Maxflo mufflers offers a pleasing level of sound with no droning. With one press of the factory exhaust button (if equipped) or Fabspeed valve controller remote, the exhaust is free to travel unrestricted through the 48mm dump tube. A frenzy of burbling and crackling erupts with every application of the throttle while a thunderous roar permeates the cabin at just the right volume level. Turn up the aggression and turn some heads!

Here is a video during final prototype street-testing on a 981 Cayman GTS:

Power: We tested systems across the board on 981, 987, and 987.2. During dyno testing on our 987.2 Boxster Spyder with our Sport Headers equipped, we experienced max gains of almost 15 whp and 20 ft-lbs of torque at 4000RPM, with peak gains of over 9 whp and 8 ft-lbs of torque. The only change present between the two runs on this graph are swapping from OEM exhaust to the TrackTec Exhaust. Fabspeed Sport Headers were installed for both runs.

• A valve controller is included for those without the Porsche Sport Exhaust System (PSE) at no additional cost
• We have been working feverishly on a traditional dual-tone Valvetronic exhaust system which will be available soon as well

This system is available for immediate release, with applications for other Porsches coming soon. You can view all info and pricing on our 981 TrackTec Exhaust here or message me at any time for discount forum pricing and inside info.

I'd like to hear this exhaust on a Spyder or GT4 with the race headers. Wonder if it would be an overkill...

Also with that combo, any idea what the power gains would be?

very cool.. subscribed. let us know if this fits the 3.8L engine also.

what power gains (if any) did you see without headers?

We haven't developed a specific TrackTec system for the 3.8L cars yet, however, we are in the final stages of development on a dedicated Valvetronic system designed for the larger output engines. Paired with our Race Headers, we've seen some jaw-dropping gains of over 25 peak horsepower. Mid-range gains were over 45 horsepower and 62 ft-lbs of tq. The exhaust/header combo completely removes the power dip that is present in these cars around 3500 RPM. The difference is truly staggering. As for the sound... well... let's just say "it's quite loud". It sounds like a World Challenge GT3 CUP car at WOT with the valves open. Astonishingly, however, it's rather manageable under normal driving conditions with the valves closed.

Please see above regarding 3.8L options. As for the standard 981's, you can expect to see the same gains with or without the headers installed. The car that we performed our dyno testing on had the headers installed for both of the runs that you see on the graph in the original post. The only difference between those two run was the installation the TrackTec exhaust system. The deltas - or the gains - in power should be consistent regardless of the headers.

Stay tuned for updates coming soon on the 3.8L products. I promise, you won't be disappointed!

i guess I'm ignorant of what the "valvetronic" ones are? is the Spyder and gt4 valvetronic?

To clarify, we will be offering two valved variants for 981, 987.2, and 987 over time. The volume delta between the two is almost the same, and they sound practically identical with valves closed. The major difference is the tone with valves open.

Our TrackTec Exhaust Systems, with valves open, allow exhaust to exit unmuffled through dump pipes for a straight pipe sound. The tone is very raw, reminiscent of a race car. Prepare to be noticed. We had our 987.2 development Spyder out on the road the other day with a prototype TrackTec, and the amount of thumbs up, cell phone filming, and cat calls was highly entertaining.

Our Valvetronic Exhaust Systems, with valves open, will route exhaust through the exhaust tips for a loud, but smooth sound. Expect a refined, yet powerful tone. We are in the process of final development on this system for the 981, fine tuning several ancillary components to offer the best possible product.

We had two 981's in house for TrackTec Exhaust installations last week and we had to put them side by side for a sound off! The blue Boxster received just the exhaust, while the yellow Cayman also acquired our HJS catalyst equipped Sport Headers. While the delta in volume between the two is hard to make out due to the limits of our camera, we hope you can appreciate the tone.

TrackTec at the track! Here is a video of our customer in his 981 Cayman with our TrackTec Valved Bypass Exhaust and Sport Headers putting his car to work at New Jersey Motorsports Park.

Not a 981 but here is my 09 987 Boxster S with Tracktec and Fabspeed Race Headers on NJMP chasing down a GT3... The sound valves open or closed is intoxicating...
