Default And the color is????

OK, I give up. The color in the pics are all over the board from a medium blue to a real light blue. So what's the real color and which pic is closest?

Thanks guys for the nice comments - much appreciated

@ Blu RS: Riviera it is Very difficult to catch it in photos - tell you the truth I was a bit puzzled myself when ordering it after downloading a gazillion pics from the net - having said that I've seen Riviera cars in the flesh before, but never a 981 (let alone a Spyder). Hence I was more than happy when I finally had the first encounter with my car in Zuffenhausen yesterday - instant love

Nice!! I'd say it looks a lot like fashion grey (61H) too. AFAIK, Sport Classic grey has not been approved for 981 (its only reappearance has been on a 918). Gerald, do you know for a fact that this is the colour, and not fashion grey? Thanks!

Default that color is outstanding on the Spyder . . . .

Porsche-Jeck great call on Riviera blue for the Spyder. It really works well with the shape and the satin wheels as well. Eye catching for all the right reasons! Congrats!

By the way, you're not alone ordering a PTS color "blind". I ordered PTS Y97 slate grey for my Spyder and honestly I've never seen ANY Porsche in that color. That's a leap of faith, as the saying goes. But we will see . . . . . . .

Gerald:

Can you please tell us who told you the color on this 981 Spyder was
'Sport Classic Grey'. As you know that color is not on the approved
PTS list for the 991/981 but was allowed to be done on a VIP's 918
Spyder in 2015. We just need to clarify these matters so that we
know where the information is coming from & we have confirmation
that its accurate in reporting it to our forum. Thanks.

Eduardo, I won't tell you how I know, but this color is indeed 63A.
Hint: Remember my first attempt at PTS? This makes up for it!!!

Donavan: Let me first say that I am very happy for you. So by
reading in between the lines, you are telling us that your PTS 981
Spyder will also be 'Sport Classic Grey', color code 63A! Congratulations!

****

For those that might not keep up with the 'bizarro' world of Porsche
'exclusive' colors, 'Sport Classic Grey' was introduced for the Limited
Edition '911 Sport Classic' that PAG brought out in ROW back in MY2010.

http://press.porsche.com/news/release.php?id=499

And that exact color was never allowed to be duplicated via PTS...
until a lucky VIP 918 Spyder owner got the approval in 2015.

And now, Gerald & Donovan are telling us that this color has been done
for some 981 Spyder clients...even thought 'Sport Classic Grey' does not
appear yet on the approved PTS list last revised by PAG on Nov 17th, 2015!

****

Personally, I think we should know how some folks were tipped-off
that 'Sport Classic Grey', color code 63A, was possible to do when
that information was not available to 99% of the Porsche customers.
And don't give me 'Melissa is my friend' line, because EVERY Porsche
customer, in theory, is Melissa's 'friend' too & she can't afford to play
'favorites' in her capacity as a representative of 'Porsche Exclusive' in
the US. I am having a hard time understanding how keeping the
information that 'Sport Classic Grey' was available but not allowed to
be widely known is justified since it puts the majority of Porsche's PTS
customers at an unfair disadvantage not knowing that such a color was
also available to them.

Ok, did someone Really pay $21k for What looks to me (no offense) but like prison porridge grey?

Sometimes I wonder if Porsche started telling us that WHITE was a special PTS color if people would start going nuts trying to get it. Ever get a sense that someone at PAG is having a really fun time with this "exclusive" color game??

Thanks for the compliments on my Blue Baby, Blu (!) RS
I am sure the Spyder will look fantastic in Slate Grey - I am a big fan of grey Porsches and my favourite grey color is Slate Actually I would have loved to order my 987S in Slate, but I missed the PTS window and hence I picked Seal Grey (with Cocoa leather and brown top) - never got bored with it!

@ navanoD: actually the pics of your beautiful 987 Spyder helped to make the call

@ CAlexio: Spyder sleeps in the garage after the 380 km trip home from Zuffenhausen. Weather is crap right now, hence no Black Forest roads for the time being. Luckily the Nordschleife is much closer to my place - let's hope for an early spring - can't wait

The answer to your first question, Alessandro, is 'yes'!

And for your 'prison porridge' remark, I heard that Donovan is taking you
off his Christmas card list! Glad you are a businessman in San Francisco
and did not considered a career in the US or Italian Diplomatic Corps...

The answer to this one is also 'Yes'. PAG is currently charging their
.1 991 gt3 RS clients that qualified for PTS a whopping $5500 if they
gave up their true PTS request and accepted the standard 'Black' or
'Racing Yellow'. The latter are no-charge on their regular models.
But customers were promised somewhat faster production time &
delivery times on their RS if they made this switch.

In what is most surprising to me, there are several RS customers
that accepted to do this 'trade' & shelled out $5500 to get their
RS in 'Black' or 'Racing Yellow'. Their third choice was 'Miami Blue'.
And for the privilege of that color on an RS, they pay over $2K more
than any other client ordering this same 'Special Color' on a 991.
But at least this color is 'new' & 'unusual' at present time on a
Porsche.

I asked him that the color is not on the PTS list and he told me
that it has been locked about 5 years and opened in late summer/
fall last year. The color looks very nice and has not that shade
of beige like Fashion Grey.

Thank you for your response, Gerald. Good spy work! You
made PTS color history here at Rennlist! It's appreciated.

Did you ask 'Porsche Excusive' staff about the color of the
'green' .1 991 gt3 RS that you saw in the back of Werk II
at Zuffenhausen that you thought might be 'Gelbgrün'?
