KBB says 17.5K in very good to 18.5k for excellent. The main fault with the car is the IMS bearing but it can be replaced with a much better version. I would add that cost and have the dealer do it before you take delivery.

i have just traded in my 07 boxster and offer these things to check out prior to purchasing.
check a carfax and check the body. i say this because even though the carfax may be clean..it does not mean the car is damage free or has not been wrecked.
if you can afford it have a mech check the car's brakes, tires, top operation, engine, etc..
when was last brake change?
how many owners has it had?
chips in the hood?
headliner ok?
as Gary R said the IMS could be a fatal flaw but easily fixed
look on carfax, cargurus, autotrader to see what is a fair market value.
test drive it as much as they will let you
if its a manual..ask if clutch or trans has been replaced
ever painted
good luck and hope you find what you r looking for.
send more questions if needed

I just bought the same year, color and equipments.
Mine has 68k miles.great handling car and a blast to drive.
I just had my Porsche dealer serviced it and all good.
Mine came with 17 inch wheels and tires so I bought a boxster S 18 inch wheels, looks better and better handling feel.
I love mine and I think if yours checks out,you should enjoy it.

If you dont mind me asking, what did you pay for your car with 68K
The car was owned by 1 person since new. He had passed away and his widow is selling the car.
The only damage to the car is what you see in the underbody of the passenger side of the car. Looks like hit hit something in a parking lot. Door still closes firmly and I believe it is more of a cosmetic fix.

An oil change is a couple hundred, IMS replacement will be in the thousands but ask a shop near you for an estimate. There is more than one type available now, but all are much better than the original. For a street only car, it is really about the only weak spot. For the track there are other things that should be addressed also, but solved with bolt on parts in most cases.

I'd get a couple of bodyshop quotes as suggested above and present them to the owner for their consideration during your price negotiations.
I see several thousand in bodywork there.
Does it come with any maintenance records?
Seeing un-repaired damage like that on a car tends to raise suspicion in my mind about how the rest of the car was treated and maintained, and I would need more evidence in the form of maintenance records or a thorough PPI to satisfy myself of the car's history and condition.

With that body damage it's down around the $16k mark, I agree. Need a good body shop's estimate and a good mechanical shop's PPI to come to a price. I would start at $18k as a fair starting point and deduct whatever it costs to put the car back to pristine condition both mechanically and aesthetically.

I know the owner of the car. What if I told you that I could pick the car up for about 10K, would that sway any of your thoughts? Again the car was owned since new, 1 owner, older gentleman, never raced, tracked, scca. I am awaiting some info on the maint records to see what was performed aside from the routine, which as just been completed (oil, battery, tires). The car is 10 years old with 40K on the odo. I will be using the car as a weekend toy (3rd) car down in Florida. It will be garaged 100% of the time and no interest in tracking the car. Wax, Shine, Cruise Around!

Just makes doing the IMS even more worthwhile.. A new motor is $20k+, so if there is a problem now it makes the car virtually worthless, and if it lets go you have a $10k roller that isn't worth fixing. Have the car checked, even to the point of pulling the IMS. Worst case is they find metal and a shot IMS and you are out the labor and stop the bleeding there OR they put in the new LN IMS solution in and your out a few grand on top of the $10k... Roll the dice and do nothing, who knows, are you feeling lucky? Seems to me that $10k + $3k IMS (guess) + $2k Body work (guess) is still only $15k invested, still an excellent price fore the car.
