Curious as to which 11-12 Spyders have the most options.

If any of you have not yet met the owner of this Spyder and are coming to the Parade at French Lick,
please take the time to look him up! Jack Merrell is PCA's 2014 'Enthusiast of the Year' & a distinguished
fighter pilot during the Vietnam War. He is indeed 'An Officer & a Gentleman':

The '60 4 60' Jack is talking about in his post above refers to a special feature of the 2015 PCA Parade
that will commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the club's founding by Bill Sholar back in 1955!

Have a safe trip to the Parade, Jack, and please pass along my 'saludos' to your lovely wife Sandy!
Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it this year!
Yes, I am enjoying the R8. It's a simple v8 and that is exactly what this chassis was designed for.
Fit & finish is excellent. The top is a clever piece of engineering,
a mechanical 'ballet', which fascinates anyone that sees it go up
or down! The AWD doesn't feel intrusive in most situations. The
car will push at the limit on the track...and its heavier than expected.
But overall, a wonderful package! The biggest drawback is storage.
On the Spyder, one only has the front trunk which is smaller than a
Boxster's or Cayman's. I purchase a set of beautiful hard leather
fitted luggage from England which are exquisite...but you still
don't have enough for more than a weekend get away at that!

Jack: Volunteer to give them a 'pass' at Parade!
The initial R-Tronic transmission (single-clutch automated manual gear box) was controversial & 'jerky' at times. The new S-Tronic is a true PDK. Sadly, neither the v8 engine nor the manual transmission seems to be offered in the new MY2016 R8 just introduced! So I have a double 'orphan'...and perhaps a rarer breed that might become more desirable over time (if my wife let's me keep it after buying the gt3).

But it would be so much more impressive if you give these Parade folks a low pass on one of these true 'oldies'! That be something to remember everyone's stay at French Lick for a lifetime!
