Cold start noise
Scraping noise after the engine fires up from cold Sometimes
Just lasts a second or two . Starter / ring gear ?

Mileage and model please. I think the 2006 IMSB sounds like an a/c clutch slipping a bit on start up and then stops........until 3,000 miles later and full failure, when it sounds like a steel rod slapping around inside the tranny.

Its a 3.4 Boxster 2007 model year , 36k miles .
Thanks for your comment , i see i need to get this into a good shop soon
To make sure what is the issue .
Update - just talked to an independent i use and they say it sounds like the starter
Motor , and could just need re bushing .

Search the 997 Forum. A Rennlister had this issue over there recently and posted video sound clip. The starter was hanging up, iirc.

Yes , thats the noise , thanks .
The car has an aftermarket warranty so will see if its covered
And report back . Booked in with independent next Friday .
