Congrats!

A question for the group here: my Spyder unfortunately came with a front plate. Thankfully I don't need to run one in my state, so I got a set of bumper plugs that match the front and look great. Nevertheless, the clear film on the front of the car has yellowed a bit and is due for replacement soon. What would you guys do?

1. Replace the film, keep the bumper plugs?
2. Replace the front/replace the film
3. Maybe it's possible to keep the front/fill in the holes somehow, and then replace the film?

If you do decide to replace the film and keep the plugs you will either need to have the installer cut around the plugs or you will need to buy new plugs. They won’t come out of the bumper without a fight and that fight will cause the paint to crack....speaking from experience on this.

I would check with a very good body shop to see what it would cost to fill the holes and spray blend the spots. It won’t be perfect but maybe better than the plugs?

We are in prime top-down season here in Washington, so I can’t think of a better time to pick up a Spyder.

As an aside, the documentation in this thread is simply great. It’s refreshing to see fun cars taken on adventures even when road or weather conditions are less than perfect. I really empathized with the raindrops encroaching on the interior... I have been known to throw my Miata’s top back in winter when I get a brief ray of sunlight between clouds.

Congrats!! Cant wait to see pics!!

I too am in a bind (in this case - a good one) of having too many cars and too little time.

I bought my Spyder on a whim ( I loooooved the look when released) and have loved every minute with it. I bought it as i was frustrated in my search for a Man '08 997 TT.
I have since acquired a TT (in an amazing spec) and am very happy to be back in a boosted P-car. (I've had a few fast cars prior - and still own a faster one - but G** da** do i love the TT!)

I am so torn - I am truly in love with the Spyder - and even my bride wants me to keep it.
My other toy is a big hp resto-modded '74 RX3 - she refuses to ride in the car as its old, has no a/c, is noisy, I can fit the kids in it (she loves that the spyder is only 2 seats) and is scary fast.

I feel that having so many toys is just a little over kill.

Will i regret selling the Spyder? Will I find one as good? The RX3 is worth HUUUUUUGE $$$ but i kinda feel the same about it. I'll miss it, and its S.O.R.T.E.D.

For reference my Spyder has LWB, PDK, Painted bits, 24000 kms, is still under warranty and MINT. There were very few sold here. Between 26-30 - and most are manuals - PDK was rare.

So my question for those that sold theirs - regrettable?

If you are not driving it .. just sell it. People spend too much time in forums talking about the must have options on a Spyder. In my opinion it is a lot more fun to drive the wheels off a 987.2 spyder that has the heavier options like non bucket seats, a/c, radio, navi and xenons than to just have a "perfectly" optioned spyder that sits in the garage as a jewel/christmas ornament wrapped in clear bra under a car cover. I still feel that having more than two good sports cars (preferably one air-cooled and one water-cooled) is overkill as drive time is our biggest challenge. That is the main reason I sold my spyder after driving it for 26,000 miles in my 5 years of ownership. I have always wanted to own a spyder with a natural Carrera red leather interior and this one was just in too good of a condition to pass up on. There is no bad color on a spyder but lighter color cars show the lines of the spyder like no other color in my humble opinion. So this was a winning combo for me.

Thank you all once again for the warm welcome .. Some obligatory dealer pics of the vehicle
If all goes well the vehicle should reach my garage in 7-10 days.

Nothing wrong with both those options. In fact my GR spyder had them. Just prefer to mix it up this time around and get a spyder without those two nipples in the bumper (Xenon) and a clean dash (sport chrono). Again options are good to obsess about but like I stated before, the best spyder is one that gets driven This spyder has very minimal options: a/c, natural leather and radio. That's about it.
Mods that I plan: Baseball cap, SPF lotion, gym visit to make up for the 30 lb a/c weight gain.
Thank you Silversurfer .. we should certainly get together. I often visit Mukilteo.

Xenons also add weight and added complexity. Granted you can see better at night
