Porsche Typ 360 Cisitalia origin of the beloved 987.2 Spyder?
With a few more cylinders, one less "power-dome" and AWD could this 1947 Porsche Typ 360 Cisitalia* be the design mid-engine origin of the 987.2 Boxster Spyder? I think so...

* Cisitalia was an Italian sports and racing car brand. The name "Cisitalia" derives from "Compagnia Industriale Sportiva Italia", a business conglomerate founded in Turin in 1946 and controlled by the wealthy industrialist and sportsman Piero Dusio.

I always thought the 550 Spyder was the true predecessor to the Boxster Spyder. Lightweight, focused and mid engine.

Most all modern cars are perhaps descendant from a cisitalia. They are credited with the first "envelope" body. Not just a central coach with fenders bolted on, but one shape, draped over the entire vehicle. The arial atom is a notable exception!
