Default Spyder in the weather

For those that think the Spyder is a fair weather car, I wish to say you are wrong. Today I got caught out in one of our Texas Spring Squal fronts and drove for over an hour in driving and blowing rain in both stop and go and interstate traffic. If I was not impressed before I am now. I stayed completely dry inside. Several times in gusts over 30mph hitting me from the side I could feel some wind getting in over the top of the side window but no water or even random rain drop got in. When I got home I took the top off as I wanted to wipe down the car and there was no water in the rear trunk except right around the drain holes where it is supposed to be. I am impressed.

Likewise the car handled great in driving rain, some standing water and very strong crosswinds. Once again the Spyder shines ( Ops no pun intended)

Maybe Aqua Blue is just a drier color

I used to own motorcycles, the Spyder top and climate control is stellar in contrast, good info on the deluge performance though.

assuming you had both tops on? If so, then ya no water should get in at all.

Correct, however anyone who has even been on a boat in a storm will tell you sometimes canvass and plastic glass don't keep all the weather out. The rear curtain is not taught on the Spyder as it is in other applications but apparently it's well conceived.

Living on the PNW I totally agree with you. Ive only encountered very slight dribbles on both side windows of my Spyder This happened on the same day only when it simultaneously down poured and the cross winds were over 30 mph.

Here's a picture of the day it happened after the rain subsided.

I really enjoy driving a great car in challenging conditions.

Nice to see her out and about in the weather.

I think you are right. In my time, 'Carrara White' Spyders tended to be 'wimps' when it came to foul weather! The most daring Spyders were always 'Aqua Blue Metallic'!

Smurf racist son of a gun, I'll have you know I've been christened more than once with natures bath putting up the top in the rain, I just keep a towel in the trunk!

my first drive in the spyder last October was 100 miles of moderate rain, I was stressed out but the car wasn't...

To me it all goes back to my favorite quote: "a convertible can be driven with the top down while a Spyder can be driven with the top up".

The worry comes from all the media and other crap getting posted that the car can't be driven in inclement weather. Owners are just confirming otherwise.

Do you mind if I add that to my signature?
