I had to summon up some courage for sure. Funny thing was that the more adventurous builds did create some polarity i.e. one guy comes in and loves it and the next how awful it is. It was interesting to see what kind of people gravitated to what car… An older guy traded in his Lexus SC430 for the Cognac Boxster. A husband bought the Anthracite Boxster for his wife who was retiring. The Yellow car went to a well put together female Oil Exec, etc. etc. All the cars found enthusiastic owners who felt the cars suited them, and I still have a job.

The Boxsters were my big experiment for 2013, and for 2014 I have been concentrating on 991's, using the Exclusive and Z Offer options. And I have uploaded images of some cars on the 991 forum.

We will see if my Brewster Green (PTS) on Espresso/Cognac 991 C4S sells!

espresso and brushed aluminium really works for me.

there is a Boxster in mahogany metallic with luxor beige interior in Porsche Mayfair in London .. superb exterior colour, deep, lustrous and intense; would go really well with agate/amber orange interior.

Good question. No. Even within the industry, such opportunities with right cars and right venue are exceedingly rare. Private owners may be more likely to end up in the right situation to answer your question—but then come questions of authority and method. (The same questions face the media, and sadly not always with better answers.) However, I have driven like-for-like 981s with 19s and 20s over the same roads and on track back to back, and the 19's taller sidewall results in a bit more "feel” as the tire begins to roll under the rim in hard cornering. The tradeoff is ultimate grip. The 19s offer a slightly nicer ride on the street, as well. That's been my experience, and the fact Röhrl and a few professional testers I respect have gone on record stating the same tells me I'm probably not off on a tangent.

As in everything, YMMV. Nobody has all the answers for everyone, and someone may be happier with a given option, whether it’s 20s, a rear-window wiper, or an in-dash toaster. Whatever their reasons, they’ve made a choice, accepted any compromises, and (hopefully) are ultimately happier with the car. What’s wrong with that? So the goal is to get them good info to help them make a good decision for them. Then everyone wins. In this case, both are good. Neither are bad. I prefer 19s. If only all models and options were so easily parsed with such a small potential drawback factor.

Back to 981 colors: That Anthracite Brown Boxster really calls out to me. Just stunning, and will be for decades to come.

If you look at the Mahogany in the sunlight there is an orangish fleck, so I think that would look nice. I might try to get into the Z offer Options and build the interior with Espresso and Amber Orange, as in my opinion the Agate against the Mahogany is only OK, Espresso or black would be better.

An informal poll amongst our staff and customers as to which Boxster was the nicest, yielded completely inconclusive results - the favourites were fairly evenly distributed. The yellow car was the most polarizing. The Cognac car got the fewest votes.

My personal favourite is the Cayman S Rhodium Silver on Agate/Amber Orange with PCCB's, Yellow gauges, and alcantera steering wheel. Of my incoming cars I think that the PTS Brewster Green 991 C4S with Espresso/Cognac interior would be the one I would take home.

I did a Boxster in the Silver/Agate-Amber Orange too, here it is...

It's on the Configurator as "steering column casing in leather" under interior leather.
$465, or almost free as Porsche leather options go.

I don't mean steering column (I know about that, I had that on my 987), I mean the steering wheel itself, the bits behind the face of steering wheel (ie. the 3 spokes and the Porsche crest).

To SFO: you will get this back part of steering wheel covered in leather (in color of your interior) only if you choose steering wheel with wood or carbon. Otherwise (in all other cases) - yes, you are right, you will get black plastic.
