Default First Spark Plug Change

I am thinking about doing the first plug change in my base 987.2 Boxster. It only has 14,000 miles but has been in service for just about 4 years, the recommended change interval. I have read the articles by Pedro and Wayne, but they seem to pertain to older Boxsters.
Does anyone have any enlightening tips or direct experience doing this task on a 987.2 base engine? Would I need to deal with tube O rings or just the plugs, I don't detect any leaking.
Thanks in advance.
Steve

Smart move to do the plug change based on 4 years of service, as this is the proper Porsche interval and recommendation. Mainly to reduce any chances of a siezed plug.

I suspect your tubes and O rings will be just fine. Just replace the plugs with the proper OE Porsche plugs from Sunset, for example. They are about $90 for a set of 6. WOW, just noticing how much those prices have increase in the past couple years.

Thanks for the response, but I have been meaning to ask how you have managed to keep such a youthful physique.

^like all things, it's a trade off, because that damn helmet makes my arms look smaller than actual.

Bumping this thread. I'm due for a plug change on the spyder this year. Can anyone tell me if the torque specs/procedure is different for these 2009+ DFI engines? All I see are DIY articles on pre 2009 cars.

Has anyone perfomed this change? Access to the heat shield that covers the plugs and coils is blocked by the cats ..... PITA. Do you need to take the cats and headers off? Any advise on how to get to the coils and plugs on an 09 base Boxster would be apprieciated.

I did the plug change on my car today. Took photos and will do a write up. You do NOT need to take off the cats/header to access the plugs. You only need to remove the 2 oxygen sensors in order to remove the top half of the heat shield to gain total access.

Great Joe! I have yet to get to mine as I have been working long weeks due to work deadlines and the car is not being driven in the winter months. I look forward to your pix and writeup.

Joe the writeup would be greatly appreciated.

I hope to start doing my own work on the Spyder when the warranty runs out. I figure I'll have the entire winter to get the maintenance done.
