I figured you did, vet. However, based on the link he posted, I don't think perfectlap did.

I think there will be. However it will likely have the new 4-cylinder.

I hope not!!! for the obvious selfish reasons

and if they do an "uprated version" they better put more power in it than a base Carrera or they have no b8lls and no vision

I'm still hoping for 380 to 420 horses in a GT4/Boxster+

I would agree that at some point Porsche will tag a model of the Boxster with the Spyder name BUT it will most likely have a four cylinder engine ( fleet fuel mileage and the fact that many nations tax by engine displacement) and it will have a power top for sales reasons. I truly believe the 987 Spyder is a special car much in the same vain as the original 356 speedster and I plan to keep and enjoy mine. The top is not an issue and a great conversation piece.

If they are concerned about fleet mileage, the cayenne would be the best way to lower averages? The spyder would only be a few hundred cars? Why not put the turbo four in all the standard boosters & caymans, and put a serious 6 in the spyder and gt4? I'm just say'n...

Valid point, except the Cayenne is their best seller worldwide accounting for almost 51% of total Porsche sales with the Mecan second. Unfortunately sports car sales are becoming a smaller an smaller percentage of production and sales in most markets.

The media seems to have settled on a 981 RS version to accompany the 981 GT4.
I for one, will purchase a 981 Boxster RS. PTS of course!
HP should be finally in line with the base 991 of around 350 HP which is more than enough for the 981 Boxster. I don't know how many HP the 981 design can handle?
The rumored Ferrari fighter will be the mid-engine Porsche machine that I believe will be one of the best Porsche's but at least $200KUSD.-Richard

Three UK dealers have confirmed the 981 Boxster Spyder will be launched around the same time or just after the GT4 at Geneva. One said it is defeinitely Q1 next year, and I have put my name down with all 3 dealers.

Not expecting any surprises as usual from Porsche, but if the spec looks good I may go for it...

Any of you boys across the pond had any such news from your dealers?

When we picked up my wife Macan I discussed this with my dealers GM/Owner who has a very good relationship with Porsche as they got me a PTS car once when no one else would even try.
Anyway he said that the 987 platform lent itself to a Spyder/R concept far better than the new one because of developments in electronic/safety aids that are more intertwined in things thus cannot be removed ( e.g. roof) This is what he was told from a head engineer. He did say that a baby Speedster maybe developed from the new Boxster and since the GT4 is taking the Cayman to Halo status that would be the halo for the Boxster.
It makes a lot of sense as reducing weight and frills was easier on the 987. The new car is superior in almost everyday but it's also bigger, more luxurious and equipped to start and would be difficult to get that light weight concept duplicated.

November Panorama Street Talk section says Boxster RS (maybe) along with the GT4. Maybe turbo flat 4 based. I would bet on this versus other sources.
