Sport Bucket Seat – Seat Height Questions
Hi - Long time reader. I’ve searched and read some helpful posts here on how the alcantara seat inserts are removable and thought someone may be able to help. I found a very nice Spyder with sport bucket seats and much to my disappointment I barely fit. I’ve learned in RL that Cantrell Motorsports sells brackets that lower the seats by ¾”. However, I would still need another 1” or so to safely wear a helmet for AX or track if the Cantrell brackets were used along with a harness.
I have a few questions:
1. If the inserts are removed, are the seats still usable and would there be enough headroom?
2. Do you think the inserts thickness could be reduced by an 1” or so by Heritage Trim here in WA to help me fit?
3. Or should I just give up on the sport buckets and go to either the standard or adaptive seats?
I sold my 996 GT3 last December due to seat height issues and would like to replace it with either a Spyder or 997.2 GT3.
TIA - Mark

If the inserts are removed, the seats are still usable at the track and actually hold you better, but wouldn't be comfortable for a long car ride so make sure to put them back in on the drive home

So that would give me another inch or so?

I have similar lowering brackets from TC Design (3/4" - 7/8")and took out the seat cushions and got about 1.5 total. I don't think you're going to get another inch from just taking out the seat cushions, and definitely not more than two inches lower overall.
