Tail of the Dragon should be reserved for sport bikes!!! The rest of you slow cagers should go back to the freeway!!

I always find it interested to see mention of the Tail of the Dragon. I guess for the US it's a premium strip of road to tear it up but I would assume it's busy as heck. 11 miles with tons of turns but at what speed and congestion? I think every B road in Germany was my own personal 'Tail of the Dragon' of sorts. For example B257 from Bitburg to the Nuerburgring...69+ Kms of nothing but twisty tight roads at 100+ kph!

Just finished the Road & Track test on the Boxster S. They started out on the Dragon but were unable to exceed 30 MPH due to traffic and Harleys. They had to go to other highways to get a feel of the new Cayman S Cabriolet.

I have a bad back and 2 plus hour drives in the Box can be a problem. I'm about 3 plus hours from the "Tail of the Dragon" and was thinking about doing it, but after hearing some of these comments I wonder if its really all that much fun at 30 mph? I am closer to the NC mountains and there are lots of fun drives that are closer.

I will say, I'd take the Tail of the Dragon over most everything Oklahoma has to offer but even the Tail doesn't sound all that appealing from what I read or see on video. This place is just sad to drive in.

I'm trying to get out there just have to find time when I'm not deployed or out of state for other work related reasons!

And I don't mind track time but I still like being able to leave my house and drive on a spirited drive at any random moment and well here it's mostly...stop sign to stop sign driving.
