Just got my 1st mid engine Porsche!!!
After 2 years of looking for a Boxster S, I finnally ended up being able to afford a used 06' Cayman S instead! I just picked it up a few days ago from California and drove it to Colorado. It's black on tan, 33k miles and the 12 way sports seat are the only option. No pasm, sport chronos, bose, colored seat belts, or anything else. The asking price was $29995 but I bargained down $28,000, which I think was a steal. Especially considering the last Porsche I purchased in 1999 was a 91' 964 C2 for $23500 with 79k miles. I almost purchased another 06 Cayman black on black, sports seats, pasm, sport chronos, bose. It had 62k miles and I almost bought it for $26,000, but at the last minute the dealer decided he didn't want to take my credit union checkand he returned my $500 deposit to me. Worked out well though. Even though I lost out on my $160 plane ticket to New Jersey (though the dealer did offer to send a check for it) two days later this car came up for sale at an Audi Dealership in Phoenix. They delivered it to me in California and I imeadiatly drove it to Colorado, where it is now. What a drive!!! After owning two 911s, I'm done with the rear engine for now. This things is great....and no snap ovesteer (I spun my 964 twice letting off in corners) Goodbye 911, Hello Cayman!!!

Welcome to the Porsche mid-engine fraternity, and best of luck with your car.
Don't forget that there's a Cayman thread which you'll probably come to love as your permanent "home" here on Rennlist.

I'm just wondering, did your 911 SC get you more tickets? My dream color combo on 911s and Boxters has always been Guards Red over Black. Specificly I can remember when I was kid going to Rusnak Porsche on Ventura Blvd where my dad test drove a 85 Carrera that was another color and I saw one that was that combo. Although my dad didn't like the 911, he bought a Maserati Biturbo instead....oops...the guards red and black combo has always been apealing to me. Almost bought a 05 Boxster S Guards Red/Black in Forth Worth before my recent purchase. Just wondering

Oh btw if any one is concerned about me getting a good price on a Cayman I'll give you a little future outlook on em. Over my two year + search there has only been a handful of 05 or newer Boxster S's and 06 Cayman S manuals for sale for less than $30k. Of those there were a few at around or below $25k. This is retail dealer internet pricing and private party combined. Maybe 11 at most under 30k and a few here and there under 25k. And this is nationally in a country of 325 million souls. Supply and demand. As and after the 981 varients get released you may see more earlier model 987s traded and thus temp supplies increase on the wholesale market. You'll see more on the market in the 25k to 30k range but it won't be for at least 2 or so more years before they'll rock bottom out at say low 18's for early BoxS and $20-$22K for Crockidiles with miles, I mean Caymans as there's never really that many. If this concerns you, don't worry this is rock bottom and this is in time and probably awhile if you like yours as much as I like mine. And all of early 986 S have bottomed at $15k retail for now. Say they (the early 986S) go down to 10k to 13k a real affordable price for a high performance Porsche. After that it's again supply and demand and you may see price go back up slightly, depending on whether or not the market is favorable. I may never sell mine. My plan is to pay it off like my Audi and keep it as long possable. I don't even know if I'll really ever want a 981 enough even when I can afford it because of its electric power steering. So that's one less on the market

welcome 18! fyi, 901 was the first designation for 911's but that got changed because Peugeot had the right to use that three number designation with a 0 in the middle.
