Boxster S-battery alternatives?
I've had really bad luck with Porsche-branded Moll (?) batteries which crap out after a few years so I am looking for a cheap and immediate alternative to the last one that died on me...
Has anybody used local auto store-type batteries which claim 'direct fit' such as the AutoCraft Type 91 battery? Any feedback?
The car is a 2006 Boxster S...
Thank you

The one that they list for the Boxster S is a Rayovac? SLI94RH7M -- I can't seem to find any info on this outside of their site (i.e. alternate pricing, etc.)
Are these guys reputable?

Has anyone run Odyssey batteries in their Porsches? I've had really excellent results with them in other vehicles and have contemplated one for the Boxster when the standard Interstate eventually dies.

I don't know where "The Great N.W." is, but since I run my car in the winter (sunny days) in MN, I was put off by something I read that gel batteries have minimal performance around 0 degrees and below. Important where I live (car was wonderful to drive last winter in -15 to -20 degrees), may not matter where you are.

Personally, I use Bosch brand. They have 3-yr replacement warranty, and 96-mos pro-rated warranty. I've had a batt go dead after ~2yrs.. and Pepboys gladly took the 2yr old dead batt and gave me a brand new one.
This warranty is great esp for folks living in extreme ends of temperature (too hot/too cold), where batt are more prone to degrade @ an accelerated pace.
