Well whatever the reason, my 991.2 C4 will NOT be PTS!
Not available!
Anyway, I like 'Guards Red', 'GRDS RED' plates reserved.
Slats painted(a little interior color), carbon interior trim(gets rid of the most of the bright trim), red belts(a little more color), should be visually appealing and a daily driver for me in the Wisconsin winters.
Was going to get carbon floor mats but then you can't have the extinguisher option. As I think about it, I might just delete the extinguisher option!-Richard

Default Meanwhile news on the Porsche PTS front...

A) Check out these two PTS 991 gts at some dealer in Britain...
'Mint Green' & 'Mexico Blue':

I think it's on spec by the dealer. Probably just wanted to order something unusual to
attract an unusual buyer. Not my favorite...but it's all in the eye of the beholder!

B) Also today we heard that 'Lime Green/Chartreuse' is finally approved:

Excellent news, GreenLantern!

It's too bad it has taken that long to do the feasibility
study on this color...but it's now finally approved and
for that we can be thankful!

The color was first used by Porsche in the MY1972/1973
in the 911. Back then, it was most often called 'Lime Green',
not 'Chartreuse', in our English-speaking Porsche markets.

It was last used for PTS in the .2 997. This 4.0 Limited Edition
example was custom ordered & continues to be owned by one
of our own Rennlisters here in this forum & a fellow R Gruppe
member from NYC (the fellow that posted above!):

***

As a small aside GreenLantern, 'Lindgrün' doesn't translate into German as
'Light Green'. The latter designation is reserved for 'Lichtgrün', although we
know it in the English-speaking market as 'Birch Green' because that was
the historical name associated with it (Lichtgrün) in early Porsche advertising
& marketing materials back in its day.

***

'Lindgrün' is today officially translated as 'Lind Green' by Porsche.

The early Porsche literature it was mostly referred as 'Lime Green',
rather than 'Chartreuse' or 'Lind Green'.

***
Once we started drinking more wines from Gaul & appreciating the delicious
cheeses of Normandy & other fine regions in that country, Porsche aficionados
started calling this 226 color by its proper French name - 'Chartreuse' - simply
because it made it sound, well,... 'je ne sais quoi'!

Love the mint green (don't kill me!)

Great news on Charteuse Eduardo , that's a fantastic color. Would be on my short list if PTS ever crosses my way again.

No word on signal orange or aubergine ?
And merry Christmas to you as well

In the early '90s, Stoddard had a mint green America Roadster that sat on the showroom for a long, long time. I would marvel at it every time I was there. If I recall, the sticker on that car was around $92K, which was quite a bit of money back then. It did eventually sell, but I couldn't learn to love it. Charteuse? Hell yes I'll take one.

As of the last PTS approved list I have (July 2015), neither
of those two colors - 'Signal Orange' & 'Aubergine' - have
been requested by a customer at the PTS program at PAG.
Thus they are not even in the feasibility study phase. I
hope somebody has the courage to step up and start the
feasibility study for those two truly beautiful colors!

Yes, 'Mint Green' is not for everyone. But I am certain that
'Mint Green' 1992 'America Roadster' is now worth quite a
bit because of the rarity of that color! And it was not PTS
nor even an extra cost 'Special Color'. 'Mint Green' was that
year simply a standard offering at no cost - color code L22R.
The current color code for 'Mint Green' is...22R. And you
will find interesting to know that 'Signal Green', then color
code L22S, was also a no-cost standard color option that
year. That is the version, or color formula, of the 'Signal Green'
currently approved on our current 991/981 PTS list. It's color
code, not surprisingly, is 22S.

From your memory Keith, would it have looked like this?

This is not the same one you saw since it's a European version.
But I think it looks pretty good on this turbo-bodied 964 cabriolet!

**

Interestingly, at least 2 1992 'America Roadsters' were built in that
'Mint Green' color for the US:

Helmut:

It was a 914-only color. Don't see too many around. It was an extra
cost paint option, similar to the way Porsche today charges more for
what they call 'Special Colors'...but still less expensive than true PTS.

I just 'google' that color and came up with this one which perhaps
might be representative of the hue. It reminds me a bit of the recent
'Peridot Metallic' color used by Porsche used a few years ago.

The one color from that 1974 Porsche Color chart for the 914 that has
always caught my eye is 'Zambezi Green'.

In the color representation on paper it doesn't look that exciting. But in
real life, it's one of the best greens that has ever been formulated by
Porsche!

I am hoping someone has the vision to request 'Zambezi Green' on
a current model to start the feasibility study on it. It goes extremely
well with a beige/brown interior. MY1973 and MY1974 are the first
Porsche models I ever went to see in a showroom after I got out of
college (Class of 1972) and discovered my love for the Porsche marque.
I distinctly remember seeing a brand new 'Zambezi Green' 914 at the
Porsche dealership in Virginia Beach (VA), where I lived for six months
during my first job with GE.

***

In the summer of 1973 I purchased my first Porsche. It was a five-year
old MY1968 912 'Soft-Rear' Targa in 'Polo Red'. I crashed that two months
later. After I returned from Paris, I had a '70 911T coupe & then ordered
a new 944 when those just came out. It was not until 1984 that I bought
a 914 to try it out. It was a used 1972 2.0 in 'Sunflower Yellow'. Here is
how I remember the color...and the period 'bellbottoms'!

I enjoyed the 914 2.0 very much. The interior cabin was surprisingly wide
& comfortable. I drove it all the way from NYC to LA that year. Then I
totaled the 914 2.0 at a Porsche Owner's Club event at the old 'Riverside
International Raceway' * when I early apexed turn 2 & never recovered!
But if I ever find a 'Zambezi Green' 914 at a good price, I would be
tempted to buy it for nostalgia sake!

***

Some savvy Porsche enthusiasts are discovering distinctive colors that
were formulated specifically for the VW-914 in the era and that are now
almost forgotten. 'Olympic Blue' comes to mind. It has been on the
approved PTS list for a while. I took these photos at 'Porsche Exclusive'
showroom at Zuffenhausen this summer simply because the color caught
my eye while staring at the 'Wailing Wall':

And recently a friend from Atlanta ordered his gt4 in this great vintage
914 color - 'Olympic Blue' Porsche color code Z16!

*Re: 'Riverside International Raceway'

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivers...tional_Raceway

'Riverside International', the 'paradise' of motor racing in Southern
California since 1957, was literarily turn into parking lot...just as
Joni Mitchell wrote in her famous song 'Big Yellow Taxi':

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
With a pink hotel, a boutique
And a swinging hot spot
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
‘Til it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Yes, Eduardo, that is how it looked, though I must admit I'm foggy on the top (pretty sure it was black) and have no memory of the interior. It sat in the front of the showroom, looking out the window. This was when (I think) Porsche still owned Stoddard. I had purchased my '88 turbo cab from Fritz Hinteberger in October '91. Fritz was married to a Piech and was sent to the hinterlands of Mentor Ohio to run the business for the family. The SA I dealt with then was a man named Neil Scheid, who left sales in the mid '90s to run his own business. From what Neil said, they basically gave that car away to get rid of it. I'm pretty sure it left town (this is all pre-internet, so not all that common).
Fritz was great. When I was buying the turbo cab (for $63.5K/6 k miles and not a blemish), I asked him what if I needed to resell and he said (I'm pretty sure this is verbatim, since I was so taken by his blunt honesty) "I am a businessman. I will try to take advantage of you." Sold it in '96 for $50K.
That mint green car was ugly.

Interesting indeed. By the way Keith, I think Stoddard Imported
Cars was on Mentor Ave but in Willoughby, Ohio. At that time
(1992) it was indeed still owned by the Porsche-Piëch family
(not PAG) under the 'Porsche Salzburg Holding', which had
acquired the dealership from Chuck Stoddard around 1983.
The business was started in 1957 & used to sell many brands...

...but eventually concentrated it's activities as a Porsche Audi dealer!
I first heard of Stoddard in 1978, or so, after becoming a PCA member
because that was the place to get your 'rare' Porsche parts via 'mail-order'.
(Curiously, that vintage Porsche parts business, now separate & owned
by Bruce Schwartz, is the only operation today that retains the historic
'Stoddard' name in business!)

Initially, the Porsche family put past PCA president 'Mick' Williams in
charge of Stoddard, whom the family had gotten to know because
of their frequent attendance at Porsche Club of America Parades,
where Mick was an institution & their point of contact. Mick hired
as his sales manager Doug Troyer, who was originally from New
Jersey, Zone 1 PCA Rep & the first owner of my 'Crystal Blue' 1970
911E Targa. So there was a benign PCA 'mafia' in control at Stoddard
at first! I am still in touch with Doug and he often tells me stories of
his glory days at Stoddard in Willoughby. (Keith, did you ever meet
Doug in the mid to late 1980's?)

Porsche Salzburg Holding sold Stoddard to Penske in February 2011.
Shortly thereafter (3/2011) the Salzburg family holding was sold to
the VW Group as part of the merger of Porsche AG to VW. After all
was said & done, the Porsche-Piëch family (now under a different
corporate umbrella called 'Porsche Automobil Holding SE') took just
over 50% shares of the entire VW Group. Penske, as Keith well knows,
merged Stoddard with another Ohio Porsche dealer that Roger had
purchased in late 2010 (Fred Baker in Bedford) to form Porsche of
Beachwood...where I ended up purchasing my 'Signal Green' '15
gt3 this year!

Small world...

Looks like someone in Germany has a signal orange spyder on order per Donovan's Spyder PTS thread!
Does that mean it would be available for all PTS orders (US) as well?

Small world indeed! We moved to Chesterland in '85 and I was in no financial shape to buy a Porsche! We had an '80 VW Dasher diesel, '82 Subaru "wagon", a child, a boxer and my wife was pregnant. By '91, I had some money in the bank and was starting to look for an E-type, as I had never gotten over selling my '70 in '75 to help fund grad school. As it turned out, one of the recovery room (now PACU but things were simpler then) nurses was married to the then president of the Cleveland area Jaguar club. I talked with him and when he asked me what I expected out of the car, I told him I expected to drive it mostly every day it was nice. He said "these cars are all now at least 20 years old. You should buy a 911 if you want a reliable DD sports car". So, my first trip to Stoddard was in October '91 where they had a GP White/navy/navy leather '88 turbo cab with 6K miles on it that I bought (without a test drive).
No. never met Doug. I have met Bruce a couple times - he ended up buying my Arena '98 C2S as part of a cash/new A6 wagon deal in '05 (brokered by Brad). Stoddard is now in Alpha Park in Mayfield Heights, about 15 minutes down I-271 from the old Stoddard's.
And yes, technically it is in Willoughby, but I always thought of it as more Mentor sprawl (sprawl being a relative term, since this is the "semi-rural(ish)" MidWest.
Also, in addition to Fred Baker, when Porsche Beachwood was formed, Cascade (by Akron) and Armando's (Canfield) also closed.

You'll have to check that with Porsche to confirm that 'Signal Orange'
has been approved for the 991/981 since last summer. In the official
approved list dated 7/2015 presently in my possession but not yet
posted by me on Rennlist, 'Signal Orange' was not approved. Nor
was it even under feasibility study!

That 7/2015 was the first PTS approved list in the 991/981 era that
was marked by Porsche as 'Confidential' & not for public distribution.

Since 7/2015, there has been other recent updates of the approved
PTS list of which I am not privy to. So you should carefully analyze
the source of the information as received from Donavan and then
decide what to believe. I am trying to get PAG & PCNA to reverse
their decision to keep the approved PTS updates confidential. The
last one I published here on Rennlist was dated 5-2015 (attached).
But I have not yet received permission to do so. I do not see how
restricting this PTS information will make the job of those at Porsche
easier. Even though PTS is not part of 'Porsche Exclusive', they will
get the brunt of the questions re: what's the latest available/approved
for PTS. So the inability of the customers to know what are the most
recently approved PTS colors will just mindlessly increase the work-load
of these 'Porsche Exclusive' personnel, already understaffed both at PCNA,
Europe & the Middle East, since most think erroneously that PTS is an
'Exclusive' option & will direct the questions at them! And such short-
sighted policy will serve no meaningful purpose in restricting their
customers' demand for PTS. That train has already left the station!

Sorry, this might be my bad info... Someone in Germany has a PTS Spyder ordered in the 997 GT3 RS Orange.... I did a search for the real name and found it was signal orange. Maybe it was bad info from my search? Is it not signal orange that was used on the 997 GT3 RS? If it's not, I will correct it immediately.

Update... looked it up... He has listed 8C6 listed for the paint code. So it looks like I had the wrong info... my bad. Correcting it now.

Hello Donavan!

No problem...except for one thing. 'RS Orange', 8C6, has
not been approved for PTS on the 991/981 last time I checked.
It was last used in MY2010 for the .2 997/987, but an exception
was made for a customer that requested it on his 918 Spyder.

'RS Orange', color code 8C6, was not listed as an approved
991/981 PTS color as of July 2015, which is the last list in my
possession. Nor was it even in consideration (feasibility study)
for the materials used on the 991/981, which is normal standard
procedure for getting a color on the PTS for a current model.
918 Spyder PTS is totally different...and went through a separate
approval process that is not interchangeable with the 991/981
models.

So the same caution applies as to 'Signal Orange'. Porsche has
to officially tell us (needs to be confirmed) that 'RS Orange, color
code 8C6, is once again available for order via PTS on the 991/981.
If so, it would be great news!

But I will not believe it until someone from Porsche officially
confirms that 8C6 is 'in' as an approved 991/981 PTS color!
