You know, I think there are those of us who long for a truer sports car, less of a GT than the 991 and will shift over from the the 997 into the 981. It's a beautiful car and it's got some soul... Let's see what it looks like in the flesh.
i think it looks fantastic. pity they done away with the boxter/cayman font in the instruments...bloody beancounters gave it the 911 font.
Yeah, I noticed that too... I love the font on the 987 instruments, it's that extra touch that really adds style.
On the 981 they are switching to a boring looking block font...

I recently took a 997 C4 out for a test drive and I'm sad to say that it felt a bit too refined to me compared to the Boxster. Maybe it was the fact that it was a C4 or maybe it was my less than svelte co-pilot, but, to me, it was just a bit too "normal." I've read in the forums that you really need a 997 GT3 to get the same raw, connected feeling you get from a 987. Is that really the case?

I didn't notice the instrumentation font, however, I do take issue with the mixing of fonts on the rear of all the new Porsches. I think it looks awful busy back there now. :-/ At least "model delete" is still an option.

This Boxster rocks. Only thing I don't like about it is the electronic brake and center console with all the buttons on it. I could probably live with the electronic steering, it may take away a lot of the feel but like Chris said. You only really only need that feel in wet/damp conditions and I am sure the car computer now deals with it anyways removing the need for the feel.
I can't wait to see the next Cayman, the 911 is just to big GT for me now.

"Deletion of model designation" was the first box I ticket in the options list.
The rear looks pretty cluttered. Even more so on the 991, which have "911 Carrera S" under the PORSCHE block letters...
It appears that Porsches rationale for this is lack of brand recognition in China. If so, why not "unclutter" the rear lids on the other markets? In most parts of the world, people recognize a Porsche anyway.
Has Chris Harris ever made any comments on the spyder?

Shame on both of you Porsche enthusiasts for not subscribing to Excellence!

Speaking of Excellence, here is Stout's review of the 981 (note the penultimate sentence, including in particular his reference to the Boxster Spyder):

Actually, I did have a subscription, but I let it expire for 2 reasons:
1) I was tired of asking for missing issues that wouldn't show up
2) I'm still owed my last issue. After 2 attempts to request my last issue be mailed to me, they were both ignored.
I liked the magazine, but I don't appreciate being ignored and ripped off. Unfortunately, I'm done with excellence.
