I'm curious about the set of lights just under the rear spoiler on the 981. Is that a fourth brake light? Is that the European fog light? Is it a variable brake force light that adjusts with pedal force? Will that be on the US spec vehicles?

Thoughts?

If you are referring to the white led lights at the end and mid spoiler, those are the clear reverse lights. Brake lights must be red in the U.S. per Federal D.O.T. regulations.

Maybe it's to draw your eyes to the center and away from the hideous spoiler/tail light interface!

Or it might be supplemental brake lights in case the spoiler blocks the other one in the up position.

Nobody really knows as very few have ever seen this car in the metal.

what don't you like about that back end? i think it looks great - just needs the rear apron painted in exterior colour option.

Funny how much like a Boxster it looks in that shot...

I mean, every other view I've seen has instantly looked like a new (and much prettier) car than 986/987. But that shot... I had to study it and pick up the spoiler to realize it wasn't a 986/7 with a slightly different taillight shape.

It is actually both the rear fog light (red) and the backup light (white) on my US spec 2013 981.
