Hello everyone! I just recently sold my 03 CL55 and purchased a 2011 Boxster Spyder. It is a Carrera white 6sp with black leather heated seats, CD, AC, sport exhaust. I didn't get nav, ceramic brakes, or sport chrono. My only regret is not getting gloss black wheels. The silver wheels are nice, kinda classic looking, but the black really stands out. I had to fill and paint the license plate bracket holes made by the dealer(why not wait until the owner requests it?), and I removed "Boxster Spyder" on the rear deck and just went with "Spyder."
I'm looking to add black wheels, Tech Art front lip, and paint more of the interior bits white.
I LOVE this car!!!!
I'm looking forward to meeting everyone and hopefully learning from all of your experiences.
I live and work in the DC area and also have a home in Folly Beach SC. I have the car in SC for the winter.
Jay

Hi Jay,

Congrats on your Spyder. Sounds like a nicely optioned car...especially since it has the sport exhaust! I personally think the Spyder wheels are among the nicest looking wheels Porsche has made in years. To be honest when people get them in black you can barely see any of the details of the design, and then they might as well be any wheel design painted black. Get the techart wheels in black and you will have the best of both worlds a choice of silver or black wheels to suit your mood. Congrats again.

Best regards,
Dino

Welcome!

Did you buy a new "Spyder" emblem or somehow reuse the old one?

New pics from this weekend. I moved the car down to South Carolina now that snow has come to the Northern VA/DC area. I'm sad that I will only get to drive her a couple of times a month. I bought a new "Spyder" emblem and trashed the original "Boxster Spyder" that i removed with goof-off. Application was easy...measured twice, applied once.

Beautiful!

Look on the bright side, at least you'll get to drive her through the winter. Mines going into storage this weekend, the little snow that fell was enough to salt the roads.

Default Great looking car!

And I've found the heated seats come in very handy at 50 (and even below) temps where you can still drive it with the top off and just wear a hat & sweatshirt. With the side windows up, only my ears get a little frosty!

The PSE is a great option too - as I've written before, the best essentially non-functional accessory I've ever had on a car. Love the sound!

I love that retro side stripe as well...

My biggest regret...no cup holders!!! I never realized how many times I actually used them in my old Benz. Is it worth it to install the cup holder feature over the glove compartment? Can I do it?

I have a 2011 white spyder as does a good friend of mine. Black wheels are the absolute bomb for this car, it really highlights the car to the max. The easiest way to do this is to have them painted. My buddy did so in gloss black and they look awesome. It cost him about $500 and was well worth the money. I have a set of lightweight flat black rims on mine that are several pounds lighter than stock, but I was looking for keeping the car as light as possible. I also purchased them from the original owner. I will work on posting a pic or two.

Thanks for the great mod. I do in fact own your prior car--I love the Spyder centered in the rear. Good job. The car is in very good condition. It went to a very good home.
