Default I saw it for the first time today

The spyder we ordered back in april arrived at the dealer a few hours ago. They tell me the pre delivery inspection requires about 6 hours and so it will be Thurs before I can pick it up.

The build is black, full leather black interior, black wheels, Bi-Xenon,PCCB,Sound package plus,A/C,park asst, sport chrono, sport wheel, sport shifter, sport exhaust, sport bucket with crest in headrest, leather trim and sunvisors, key pouch

It is getting close now. It has been a long time since a new car did anything for me emotionally, but this one does.

'Bout time to update my sig!!!!

Well done, Black is the bomb when it's clean.

I have since changed out the side markers to clear, I didn't like the orange OEM look

Very nice combo Gary!

Ok, someone explain to me when Porsche started offering the sport wheel without pdk? Damn, that is a really nice wheel and I would have definitely ordered it if it was available.

Gary your interior will be stunning.

Very nice. I was this close to getting a Black one. Perfect with the right options too.

I think it started with the MY2012 Spyder a few months back. I ordered it on my July built '12. It was only $250 MSRP. Same wheel style (Sport Design) used on GTS, Speedster and 4.0 Limited Edition gt3 RS, so it will represent the 'look' of the last of the old platform in both 911 and the Boxster/Cayman. $250 is a smoking deal considering what Porsche typically charges. I would have guessed at least $500 for the wheel. Hopefully Porsche isn't reading this.

I guess if I had the patience I would have had a chance at getting the updated wheel, but I just couldn't risk not getting a car configured the way I want and Porsche is way to wishy washy with how they handle limited allocation cars.

I much prefer the sport wheel over the older wheel. I was planning on buying one from suncoast, but then the 4.0 RS came out. I'm holding out hoping that the 4.0 RS wheel become available. That would be perfect.

For those who don't know- or don't remember -what Ortho is talking about, the standard 4.0 RS steering wheel is the a Sport Design like the one we are talking about, but thicker, wrapped in black/charcoal Alcantara and with a 12 O'clock band in 'Red' (not 'yellow' as in previous .1 & .2 RS's). I will also consider purchasing this wheel if/when it becomes available at Suncoast. z356

I can't get past the resemblance to the Mopar 'Tuff' wheel from the early 1970s. That nothing else in the Spyder's cabin has a metallic finish makes it look further out of place, IMO.

Alan

I agree with you. For a long time I went with the standard wheel as the metal finish does look a little out of place. In the end I went with the sport wheel because it was so darn inexpensive for a optional wheel. I think the appearance will grow on me and look perfect over time. If that was to never happen I feel like the plastic wheels will be relatively inexpensive some day.

The other thing that's better about the sport wheel is the actual diameter of the wheel is smaller. I feel like the diameter of the standard wheel is enormous.

I don't think the wheel looks out of place. The shifter has some Aluminum and the painted portions of the interior really do help bring it all together. I think it would look slightly out of place without the full leather but I think the whole package should look really nice. I guess we'll have to wait for Gary to post more pictures!

I wish I could just get the standard wheel in a smaller diameter, and a little thicker for my meat hooks.
