Default the 981

all the talk is about the new 991 - but based on the photo's i have seen the new 981 looks like a real killer. more muscular; more room and i suspect more powerful.

I'm not excited about the fact that it might be growing but then again I'm not all that tall so for me the space inside the cabin isn't as critical.

With few exceptions Porsche has continued to improve each new generation of their cars and I'm sure the new 981 and 991 will be improved over the current cars.

Still I am happy with my decision to buy the Spyder rather than wait for the next gen car.

No doubt, the 981 will have more power than the current cars. But I for one don't want more room if it means a bigger car.

I completely lost interest in modern Carreras when the 996s were released. I've just never been able to to fall in love with the dimensions or overall appearnace of the 996/997.

Best regards,
Dino

i think it is a really nice maturity of the design. the rear end looks good and the lines seem more muscular.

a little bit more romm inside might be nice. i wwould like to think of it as a slightly larger spitfire from the inside

The newer ones are looking a bit ferrari esque somehow.. the longer nose for cooling, the squared off fender tops in the back.. From the last pic I see a lot more "jag XK8" than porsche for somereason.. rough silhouette? longer length? just not sure...

The Boxster looks almost as large as the 911 in that first pic....

I know the 911 is growing by 4 - 6" which means maybe similar growth for the Boxster?

Thanks for posting the photos. There are some new angles to see in these.

I don't like the tail of the 981 Boxster. It seems "cut off" and busy. It's not as elegantly rounded like the 987 Boxster and of course the 987 Cayman tail is its "best side".

I agree that the front especially has Ferrari like curves almost like the 360 but with a Porsche flair.

Overall I think it's a beautiful design and once the covers are off it will probably look even better.

Some of those pics remind me, dare I say, Corvette like towards the rear.

The rear has a Miata look.

Hm, I'm biased (I'm happy with my 987s), but the "spy" pics don't exactly have me drooling over the next car. The headlights look nice (and also remind me of a modern day Ferrari), but the rear end and profile are rather nondistinctive. Also, the side vents are a little too small, as if they aren't meant to be there. All that said, I anticipate that the new car will probably look just fine once the wraps are off.

If I were to dictate the direction of the Boxster, then I would make it smaller/shorter overall, and perhaps with more dramatic yet refined curves like the original 550.

You have to remember that you;re looking at a car that still has a lot of cladding on it. The nose, the fenders, the rear valance and tail lights are all partially hidden still. We've probably got a few months to go before we see final prototypes with no cladding on them.
