From my experience Both in our Shop owned 987.2 Spyder and our Shop owned 360 Spider 6 Speed I think for me that there is no comparison.

The Spyder is a PDK which is absolutely fantastic, but the car is just SO DARN GOOD! It's almost TOO good, for me it takes away some of the excitement of the journey. Surely on a race track it would be easier to drive quicker and probably more competent, as well it should be for the difference in age.

The 360 for me checks off so many boxes that the Spyder just cant even come close to. The seating position is the most noticeable, you really feel like you are sitting on the ground after having gotten out of almost any other car. Of course there is the gated shifter and the looks of the interior, which on our car is grade A top notch. Taking the 360 out feels like an EVENT regardless of your destination, you know you will be in for a good ride. The sounds and the buttery smooth gear shifts ultimately lead way to performance that is far superior to what many people give credit for. The 360 is significantly quicker in almost all situations on the road than the Spyder, which is what should be assumed when looking at the numbers. The motor is an absolute work of art like nothing I have experienced, 5K RPM in the 360 is like cruising at 3K RPM in any normal road car, it just revs with such ease like there is no friction present.

Lastly, for me the 360 offers a more ultimate all round package in what I look for in a weekend car. The Boxster Spyder is just so damn good that I find myself missing some of that drama. The shifts are so precise and on point every time, no matter what at the pull of a paddle.

As for Porsches the Spyder ranks among one of my favorite looking and driving of all time. However if I had to chose between the two, it would be the 360 every time without looking back.

Of course this is my opinion on the two from my personal experiences, yours may be different!
Great comparison. I don't think anyone would argue that Ferrari adds the "drama" that is often lacking in all German automobiles. It's what the Italians are good at and it's not just their cars.

I would comment though that you really need to spend some time in a MT Spyder, I think that would really bring a different level of driver involvement that you are without a doubt missing in the PDK Spyder. My opinion of course.

I completely agree, unfortunately I have not had the chance to experience a manual Spyder! I feel like for me, that would be one of the best value for money cars out there! I loveeee the way the Spyder looks

Quote: our Shop owned 360 Spider, that changes the evaluation of ownership considerably. I built an engine in my dad's shop and proceeded to blast through the redline every drive after. I also had a tow truck and a free core engine in the back room.

A valid point for sure. I am speaking just on what the car offers and not so much the pros and cons of me personally owning either. That will be different for everyone when XX is worth XX to them it might not be to someone else.

I haven't owned either so my opinion on that topic would be pointless at best lol.

Happy holidays from park city Utah

All these cars are super and great. I owned a 2003 360 spider with fabspeed headers HJS sports racing cats and rear Maxflo muffler......... The ar is the closest thing to a F1 old school DP car and would put a giant smile on any biased car fan American muscle to a BMW snob. Trust me since the 360 all the new Ferrari cars are absolute magic.

I also have a beautiful Boxster Spyder that is wonderful too. Absolute great car most likely the best looking most exciting best driving car that Porsche has made in over 10 years. I've driven 850hp new GT2 RS cars and a slightly modified Spyder with top up or down is amazing and not boring.

One really can not say one is better than another as it is like a smoking blonde versus a smoking read head........that is ready to sleep with you back in college.... She made an offer you can not refuse........I personally can't imagine getting rid of one or another. IMHO in that article if you could buy a clean well maintained Ferrari 360 spider versus a Boxster Spyder I would get the Ferrari first especially if you never had a Ferrari.

As I have said many times before all these cars are completely different and all of you should drive them all and try them with an open mind. Life is short and thank god Porsche Ferrari mclaren and Lamborghini engineered these cars.

I did not mention American muscle don't flame me!

If any of you want to drive a Ferrari 360, Boxster Spyder, gallardo spider , 930 slantnose, 993RS cruise by fabspeed as they are on the floor often with modified McLarens and other cars with our dyno developed systems.
