Buck: On postings we had in early September, I believe that MJones revealed that there had been 360 Boxster Spyders sold by US dealers as of end of August YTD. He has also reported that 50 Spyders were sold in September and 29 units in October. Mjones will probably let us know November sales soon. But from what we know, it means PCNA reported around 439 Spyders sold in US from first deliveries in March to end of Oct YTD. I don't know who will be able to give you the other breakdowns - manual vs PDK, colors and US vs ROW. z356

Default 557 Spyders in the US?

don't know if MJones cruises this forum but I went back and looked at his GT3 sales figures (he always puts Spyders at the bottom)

based on that and z356 figures I count 557 Spyders sold thru the end of March

based on these numbers 360 by end of August (47 sold)

and to answer Only1Buck questions, have no idea
but seems like the clear preponderance of Spyders are white and live in CA

if all you Spyders owners would email your info to dspyda.com
we might get a better idea of where all the Spyders are
and what colors and options
there are at least 3 new Spyders in dealer showrooms here in TX
not sure how many used ones are for sale

I know of two new Spyders (an Aqua and a Yellow) on the way here in central TX
and know there's a red one and a cream one here locally as well
and rumor of a used Aqua at a local dealer

Those numbers are much lower than I expected. 557 through March is very low! I imagine another 100 will be built but overall that does mean it was a very low production run for this car. I'm surprised considering how many people seem interested in them.

So a little more than 2 cars per dealer since the start. Probably will end up with 650-700 total in the US. Around 3 units per dealer for 2 model years. I was told May, June & July production, and that is all (maybe someone can confirm). Maybe this will have a little bit more of collectors value than the other limited/low production models.

As a point of reference, 2010 Boxster and Cayman sales were 3,499 combined.

557 represents one year of Spyder sales.

I maintain the opinion that the Spyder will become a collectors car at some point in the not too distant future. One of the most beautiful cars Porsche has ever made. A joy to drive. A no-brainer purchase for any Porsche enthusiast.

So, if I'm ready to order, is there a chance I can get one made for me? Lusting for this car now. If not, any recommendations on how to find one close to my spec? I'm new to all this, so help is appreciated. Thanks.

I would start searching on the Porsche used car finder, autotrader and cars.com. You can also find them on ebay occasionally but the odd are slim that it will be in your configuration. What is your preferred setup?

Anyone know what current product/sales numbers are for the Spyder through May?

September delivery? Where are you located in the globe? In any case, congratulatins with that order but suggest you 'trust but verify' as Ronald used to say. z356 (on way this morning back to Brooklands & Mercedes World at Weybridge)

The ordering dealer should be able to provide you with a copy of the pro-forma invoice. It contains all the order info and will allow you to verify the car is configured the way you intended. Also the order status is listed and you can verify it is a valid order.

Try this link: http://www.986faq.com/3-0/default.asp

Found a dealer that has allocation as well. Same time frame. July build with Sep delivery! Guards Red for me. Verifying order tonight and will ask for pro-forma post entry. Super jazzed. First sports car, first Porsche. Splurged on the non essential PSE. Too cool to regret later.
