YTD 119 Spyders sold
I come up with 601 sold to date, and with ~4 more months of cars coming in, total US sales will likely be under 750 over the two model years.

For comparison, here are US production numbers for some of the rarer Porsche models (unique visual and/or performance enhancements, not paint/option package 'special editions') in recent years (compiled from the internet after a long day, so take it for what it's worth):

1988-89 911 Carrera Club Sport 28
1989 911 Speedster 823
1992 964 Carrera US Cup Car 45
1992-93 964 America Roadster 250
1993-94 964 RS America 701
1993-95 928 GTS 406
1994 964 Speedster 427
1994 964 Turbo S X85 ('Flatnose') 39
1997 993 Turbo S 183
2002-04 996 GT2 317
2004-05 996 GT3 960
2004-05 Carrera GT 604
2007-08 997 GT3 916
2007-08 997 GT3 RS 413
2008-09 997 GT2 205
2010-11 997 GT3 640 (to date)
2010-11 997 GT3 RS 512 (to date)
2011 997 Speedster 100 (?)
2011 997 GT2 RS 133 (?)

Default Spyder numbers

with production over, you would think Porsche would make an announcement with total worldwide numbers

Those numbers are cars sold, not cars built. With production just now complete, it will take another 4-5 months at least to get all cars to dealers and sold.

Note that there were still GT3s and RSs sold in July, and production ended for them months ago.

Will it take 4-5 months to sell the last Spyder? Possible, but there are so few in inventory now and only a handful will get added. Was told mine was in the last dozen or so built and it is arriving this week. Cayman's Riviera Blue and z356's Aqua Blue should be among the last to arrive in the states.
