Default Best Handling Mods to Boxster?

What things would be the least expensive and produce the best results for a stock Boxster? 1st thing I want to do is upgrade to a 18" wheels with lower profile tires. What would be the next thing? Shocks, springs, swaybars? This is a weekend driver with a little track day time. Brakes seem real good already so I haven't thought about that much. I supposed a pad compound change could help, but I don't know what they come with from the factory.

Tires and a good performance alignment (lots of camber, etc) will yield an incredible improvement.

Bigger wheel will counterintuitively decrease performance. Use the smallest & lightest wheels you can fit around your brakes.

Biggest thing you can do is seat time! Beyond tires & alignment, I wouldn't change a thing until you have a LOT more seat time.

Tires and Seat time will have the biggest impact imho.

different perspective:
keep the same tire, shocks, etc. Change seat and get harnessess with HANS. IMO you will find that when you are not bracing yourself with your left knee on the door and right on the center console your times will only improve. The major problem with this upgrade is the equal restraint rule in PCA which means when you add harnessess you are making a $3-4,000.00 decision all in.

It is worth it, the tires will talk to you and once you feel the snug fit of harnessess you will only improve with different compounds.

Best.

If you go to 18" I highly recommend OZ Alegheritta wheels. Reasonably priced, low weight, strong, good looking and no fitment issues.

They may be reasonably priced, but they're still twice as much as some other wheels on Tirerack. How do they compare to "Sport Edition Cup 4" wheels?

According to the 987 experts at TPC Racing in MD, the # 1 thing you can do to improve handling is change out the front and rear sway bars.

imho, a from the factory Boxster has more handling capability than the typical driver has skill to exploit. Learning how to drive would be more helpful, and you could move that "mod" to any car

There are tons of items you can spend your money on to "improve" your car (tires, seats, sway bars, shocks, springs, alignment, reducing weight etc etc, but if the driver doesn't have the skills, then it really doesn't matter much.
