Thank you for the PM's. very helpful information. as it happens, I bought a new 2010 box s last night, silver/black with nice basic options (~65k MSRP) ... got a deal that I could not pass up just before the 3/31 deal expired. I still can't beleive I got this car...it's one amazing ride. I'll post pics on a separate thread when I can find my camera. thank you both.

Smart move. The last day of the month is the best day to buy.

putt putt - do you like the LR3 - i found ours to be such a nice driving suv - smooth quiet and the seating postion was amazing.
even though it was ever only in for the regular maintenance, the dealer service was so unorganized i didn't end up buying it off lease -

Cpa4S,
We love our LR3 so much we bought an extended warranty and kept it. It's got a nice dvd with video 3 video screens. We've got our eye on an LR4 in two years.
You're so right about the ride and quiteness of the car. I don't even see it as really underpowered, except at high revs, but the power is nice at the low end.
I could never understand why the magazines praise the the MDX so highly, except maybe on paper it's better. But subjectively it's boring compared to the LR3. Our good friends bought one and the Mom hates it. She misses her Sienna mini van.
I also have a wierd take on the whole LR line. IMO the LR3 has a little edge over the rest. It's cheap by comparison, rides smoother than a RR sport (I heard people have regretted the harshness of the suspension), is the best off roader, and HAS 7 SEATS! What do you think about that? Don't get me wrong, I love the Range Rover interiors, but you should see how my kids dirty up that thing. With the LR3 we just let them go for it and every three months get it detaled.
