Great handling!
I took my turbo for service at Rusnak and I got a 987 S has a loaner. I'm having so much fun with the top down. Sorry for the cell phone pic.

the Boxster is as real as a porsche can be.
the rear engine cars are the weird one's. some believe they are rebadged VW's

Of course the reason a lot of people would say that they were NOT REAL PORSCHES, was that they WERE assembled in Finland, albeit with German parts.
I never for once believed that idiocy, but now they cannot use that excuse any more! Since March 09, 2009 they are being built inj Zuffenhausen on same assembly line as 997.

Boxsters are great. It really comes down to one question: Do you need a back seat? I like having 2 trunks. My last Porsche was a 911SC Targa. I enjoyed that car for over 10 years but it got to be a bother taking off the Targa top and putting it back on whenever I stopped for an errand. Nothing like pressing a button. Especially with the glass rear windows that don't require the "chop". I love both Boxsters and all 911's.

Having started 28 years ago with another "non-porsche" the 914, I love my Boxster S. It reminds me so much of that old 914, just refined to the N-th degree. Like you say, put the top down and GO! And I have owned several "real porsches" including an 84 Carrera and an 04 GT3. Both great cars, but neither was as much fun to drive on the street as the Boxster.

Wonder why it has Cayman wheels.....which aren't that bad looking....were those 17's or something?????
I don't thinks so...There are always plenty on the market.
Regarding, your liking of the 987, it was my first convertible, but, I find when driving it, it's as comfy, tight, as a hardtop, mine is an S, I think they had double linings while Boxsters (non-S) did not for a while...I bought the hardtop, just so I could have a wierd looking car once in while...Living in SoCal, that was a waste of money...If I had known that the Targa was coming back, I would have waited, recycled more, and saved for the Targa 4S....Rusnak had a white one when I was in once that was absolutely beautiful...white (shows off the Targa top)....black (would hide the Targa top)...win either way...I would go white...I will go white....as soon as the earth stops tilting financially....another car I was considering before I bought my 06 987S, was a used 98 993 C4S, which I think is one of their greatest looking cars, still!!!!

David A,
Yeah, I know, I have the teq book memorized, and I know that the Cayman S wheel is an option. I think it's clean but simple, if I were going to get an optional wheel I would go up, not sideways to what I consider a basic wheel, (standard for the Cayman S)....Rusnak does change the wheels alot. McKennna in Norwalk is into painting them black, but they said they can do any color. So you'll see alot of Black (gloss) wheels in the showroom. I want to have some wheels painted the color of Charlie C's 2004 Anniversary....the guy at McKenna said it's seal gray, but I'm not convinced of that....would do the research before I let it start, I have some 19's, but just sitting in my garage. Or May look at some OZ wheels....one more thing Larry, you say some people are idiots...I think that most people are and some people are almost normal. It's a pessimistic view, but it's my view.

Tinman, my statement was in response to (and agreement with) what Elusive wrote. Anyone who is so pretentious to say (and believe) that a Boxster is not a Porsche is an idiot in my book, and someone that I prefer not to deal with. My first Porsche was a 914, and I have been down that road for 28 years. It gets a little old.

Larry,
I can't agree with you more....the gap closed when it was 914/911 before to Box/Cay/911 now....everyone knows that Porsche has to sing and dance because they have all this wonderful stuff, but they don't want one cannibalizing the others....I lived a 1976 used 914 2.0 which I wanted to trade my car (a 1976 ??? 2nd series Datsun 260Z) back around 1978.....when I test drove the 914 I was amazed at the fun factor that a relatively underpowered car could give, but those were the days when my high school classmates were driving Chevy's with 302, 327,350,396,426,454 cu inches....I wasn't in that crowd. I had a neighbor who had a 356 which he restored and maintained pretty well, the site of the carbs was beautiful (webers?....so that part not original)...In college, 75-79, my friend's dad let him drive his mexico blue 912 (another challenge for those who cry out "NOT A PORSCHE", well it was fast enough and fun enough. Had rich girlfried, her uncle had a 77 Turbo amongst others in stable in BevHills...I got paid to start them up and drive them...needless to say, I took the Turbo as my daily driver alot...last I heard, after I had broken up with her, she was taking it on a ski trip and despite a sign (black exhaust smoke) she kept going, destroyed the engine...not my problem at that point. So in retrospect, I honor the 914 and the 912 as Porsches as well.
all is good in the force....

I didn't "live a 1976"....I loved the 1976, even though it wasn't the best example of the 914 series. I don't think my typing is that off, I think there may be a disturbance in the force now....
