987-S at Barber this weekend
Spent 2 days on Mr. Barber's amazing race course, figured I'd update those of you who are interested.
The 987 was amazing! Easily as quick as my 993, and far more balanced and confidence inspiring. Brakes are fantastic (stock pads), and the car was tight and very agile and forgiving. The H&Rs mated perfectly with the OEM non PASM shocks, reducing roll and of course ride heigth. I was the only guy in my run group not on R compounds...man the PS2 is a phenomenal street tire! Short shifter was precise and reassuring.
My car does not have Sport Chrono, but the "normal" PSM only flashed once in the turn 3 uphill full throttle section.
Drove the 997 there for 2 days recently, so I can compare the two. Had to drop a gear in 2 corners to get enough revs/power to pull the low speed turns, but I was just as fast or faster in the Boxster--the 987 was far more planted--a lot less "pogo sticking" and less understeer.
In a nutshell, don't let anyone kid you about our "entry level" Porsches. The 987 truly distinguished itself as a world class sports car.

If you do a search you'll find my thoughts on PDE. I did the 2 day class. I wouldn't recommend it for complete novices or those with more than 5 DEs though as it isn't enough hands on instruction for newbies and it's too slow (lead/follow) for experienced drivers. Unless you just want to arrive and drive someone elses Carrera that is
