I believe the name is a mistake, unless they planed a wide spread joke (Gayman) to promote the car in a viral way... Further, I believe the name is too close to the Cayenne which has been designed to serve a totally different target audience.

I really hope the Cayman will become Porsche's sports car model. The 911 is now more and more a luxury / heavy GT car.

I think we're at least two years away from a club-sport Cayman. For now, the GT3 is Porsche's true sports car.

Whatever happened to just designating their cars with a number? Every Porsche should be a 9--. Names just lose the tradition.

Im not defending the name Cayman...but Porsche will surely have an "internal number" designation... however real names are quite part of the "Porsche Tradition" as well... remember "Spyder" "Speedster" "Carrera" etc.

Worry not, for I already have a factory in Malaysia producing "Coxster" and "Coxster S" replacement nameplates in Porsche script. I figure that is a little catchier..

Gayman is an awful name for a car...

"Whatever happened to just designating their cars with a number? Every Porsche should be a 9--."

Do you not consider the 356 and 550s real Porsches?

By the way, speaking of names, when is PAG going to use the good Dr.'s name (or at least his initials) for a model designation?
