The recent rumor has been "Cayman." I think I prefer Panamera.

Either way, good catch! Perhaps there's still some debate about the name within PAG.

No cayman name registred that i could find
i am sure this is not a comprehensive list
neat name though - invokes the Carrera Panamericna 550's - which i am sure they will use in marketing (the coupe versions) - they also raced at LeMan's -

Way better than Cayman.

On another note, this is a German car company! Why not a German name? They both seem sort of silly for names for a German sports car.

From what I understand both "Cayman" and "Panamera" were registered.......but from looking around on other boards.......Porsche may have gotten the message on the Cayman idea......can you
unregister a site as fast as you can register one??

While Panamera is a little better why can't it just be something like 987C, 987CS, or C7 and C7S.....or as Nick suggested a German name. Why does Porsche have to be off the wall here........

The internal name could easily be 987C just as the Boxster is 987 & 987S...but the actual name in which they release the car under is something different and I would imagine that would alwasy be the case.

My local dealer said that the name would be the "Boxster Coupe" and that the "Boxster" would be renamed the "Chickster".

I have been thinking about dropping a 3.4 carrera engine in my boxster. I was also thinking about renaming it the "carreraster" or the "Boxstererra"

Hmmmmn? Hmmmmn?

Maybe he got beat in his cup car by a woman driving a boxster and he's bitter about it.

The official name has been confirmed: Cayman.
And Porsche's marketing guys really insist on naming it Cayman and NOT Boxster Coupé. My dealer has been brainwashed about this last week...
Greetings,

Panamera, if Porsche has registered this then maybe its the new 928s name,,

Sounds about right for a Grand Tourer.
