"Model designation delete" is going to be a very popular option.

Otherwise, the car sounds great. Perhaps they'll launch with the S version, and later unveil a Club Sport.

it does certainly look like the name is real. maybe the CAYMAN badge can simply be replaced with PORSCHE.

Why is everyone so against the name Cayman? It's just a name. A Porsche by any other name would still drive as sweetly....

I think it's because there aren't many people who understood what the name means. It's associated with those laid-back canned commercials for the Cayman Islands. Think CROCODILE!!! It will sink in. Cayman is a cool name. I think they should lose the "S" though, and use it only if another version comes along. Cayenne is the misnomer.

Paul, was the name an issue in the focus group? It's hard to believe Porsche would launch a new model without focus group testing the name.

No, the name was never discussed. To tell you the truth, I'm not really sure I understand the point of the focus group now. It seems like they had already decided on what to do with everything anyway. Maybe they were just looking for affirmation, or maybe our opinions will make their way into the first revision of the car.

Was the CS model confirmed at the focus group? Or is this just speculation from some of the press that has been floating around. I am very excited for the release of the Caymam. If the performance and handling are as described by some of the leaked articles, I think you will have a dynamite drivers car. I don't care what the name is, It will grow on us just like the Boxster and Cayenne. I will be putting a deposit down this week.

Does that mean there will be another forum catagory I can't find?

They had both a regular and an S model there on the floor. Visually, they were almost identical.

Any details you can share about the "regular" model?
