Default Alcantara ?

The 2005 Boxster Product Information guide says the following:
"The seat center is in Alcantara as standard."

What exactly is Alacantara? Does anyone have a picture?

Thanks,
Stacey

So the center of the seat is going to be a suede material? Is that the center on the seat bottom, seat back, or both?
I haven't seen the suede in any of the 987 pictures.
Does the 997 have the same thing?

Can’t be sure of this but I think US Boxsters came standard with Leatherette/Alcantara at times prior to this year. In 2004 however, partial leather was/is standard.

In the UK Leatherette/Alcantara is standard for 2005. If your price list says Leatherette/Alcantara is standard then I guess it has reverted and you will have to pay extra for partial leather. But I don’t think too many people in the US are interested in Leatherette/Alcantara so it will probably affect resale, and you won’t find many Boxsters in dealer stock without at least partial leather. This is something to consider.

The 997 comes standard with partial leather. The only Alcantara in them is the headliner.

Alcantara is a brand name of a man-made suede-like material:

The 997S has Alcantara standard for the headliner, but not seats.

I like it !! It doesn't get as hot in the summer or as cold in the winter...and you don't stick to it !!

My interior is Blue - but I don't know in which part of the world blue alcantaras are native.

The Irish ones are Green of course !!!

I have an alcantara 3 spoke steering wheel in ebay right now... alcantara doesn't wear out as quickly as genuine suede...
