Hi! I'm looking into purchasing a 981 Spyder and just got the DME from the dealer. Zero over revs but many fault codes and only 400 operating hours for 13km which means an average speed of 32.5 km/hr or 20mph. That seems pretty slow for 400 hours of driving. Are these fault codes a red flag? Is the low average speed a red flag? Also, I looked up the vin and see tons of "offered for sale history" over the last 4 years. Car is CPO from a P Dealer in Los Angeles. This would be my first Porsche so I appreciate all the help I can get on doing my due diligence. Thanks!

Dealer just told me the car is in the showroom and the battery was jumpstarted, resulting in the DME showing the fault codes. "The tech now needs to clear the codes." I did a search here and see this can happen during a jumpstart, which is ill-advised on a Porsche.

My thought is the car probably spent quite a bit of it's time in traffic or commuting around town. I wouldn't be super concerned with it and luckily you have CPO which is a warranty against future issues for the next 2 years.

I am not sure on the codes but if they're cleared and they don't come back, I think you're fine.

Regarding the jump start, I'm sure dealers are jump starting cars frequently to get them ready for a test drive, even new cars, after they've been sitting on the lot for a month or more.

Also remember that Porsche is the only company (that I know of) that is offering DME reports on cars. While it is a great piece of data, it can cause us to turn down otherwise very good cars. So if the car checks out and you like it, go for it.

I have jump-started my car on several occasions, never had a problem, and not sure why it would be ill-advised, idk.

DME looks ok to me, good over rev report. Cars can throw all sorts of faults with low batteries. They normally go away once it’s driven and the ECU can complete all of its checks. I’d say that if the PPI checked out and you like the car, then go for it. The added CPO warranty is reassuring too.

Not sure what’s up with the sales listings. I doubt it’s been offered for sale 99 times. Many listings are the same price and day. Probably just an odd way this particular service logs listing data.
