GT3 LCA's on a 981S
Can anyone provide a part number for the GT3 LCA that will fit my 2014 981S?
Any help would be appreciated.
I had a different aftermarket part on my car which broke today coming out of a turn. The bolt snapped.
Fortunately it was the trackout on a slow corner, so nobody but the car got hurt.
Thanks
P.S. Don't let the picture confuse you. This is a GT4 bumper on a 981S

Not sure if there's a cost difference but if you're going to buy new arms anyway you could consider going GT4cs/991cup arms....

After checking with one of my parts guys who deals with a lot of Porsche Motorsports hardware, we might end up with RSR control arms.
They're not cheap, but neither are GT4 LCA's which are $1100 per side, and that's the online parts price. I can get the RSR version for $950.
Still researching.

Pretty sure any 996 and up GT3 LCA will work; the question is just whether you need adapter shims to make the thrust arm fit to the thrust bushing (Tarett sells adapters). I'm rocking OEM 996 GT3 LCA's with shims, aftermarket spherical inner bearings, and a solid thrust puck from Tarett. You can also get 991 LCA's that are already the correct size and don't need shims.

Good thing it didnt happen at the same place Sunday at the July DE where that will be a straight. They are running the north couse. 4S to 8/9.
I realized I had just corded a tire going into 8 a few years back. That was fun.

We got it worked out today. Cup car arms in currently in the rear are going up front and the new RSR arms are going in the back. The back gets the heaviest load.
It just doesn't pay to try and save money on aftermarket parts when they are this important and the consequences of failure are so great.
Thanks everyone.

I've heard good things about these parts from the guys at Texas Track Works:

Size is identical but the RSR has this type of ball joint. I'm not sure what the cup LCA's are like since I didn't bother to look at them that close.
I do believe the RSR's are even stronger which is why I am putting them in the back and the Cup arms in the front.

The car was up on the lift today so was able to do a good inspection. Turns out, there were RSR LCA's on the rear the whole time. The new RSR arms will go on the front to replace the broken part and it partner on the other side.
The stud on the non-Porsche LCA snapped just above the taper that fits into the upright. Very strange place to break since it is the tapered part that gets the stress.
Its also disconcerting that the threaded part of the stud would break since all it is supposed to do is hold the tapered section in the upright.
Lesson learned. Don't try to save money in this area. If you are going to track the car, install the best. Porsche Cup or RSR arms.
My opinion. Others will surely disagree. Saving a few hundred, cost me several thousand.
