I don't but I do have some local friends that do. It's a mild increase IMO. Now... I have an IPE valved exhaust + Headers + Plenum on my carerra so my definition of "mild" may be different than yours. FWIW, even a Remus; which IMO is one of the mildest aftermarket options, is more aggressive on our cars than PSE.

I have headers on my 987 which didn't do much sound wise but IPD/filter/TB did wonders for the induction sound.

"Little livelier" is pretty subjective.
I have a 2010 BS to which I first added the PSE. It did not add any noticeable performance, but did add a lot to the sound. It was worth the cost for the sound alone. Also the ability to silence the exhaust (driving in my neighborhood) was very handy.
After 6 to 9 months with the PSE I added Fabspeed sport headers. These have catalytic converters on them, but they're less restrictive. These added performance and even more to the sound. Under hard acceleration, the sport headers with the PSE open are LOUD! Gloriously LOUD!
With the current set-up, and with the PSE closed, there's very little difference in sound and performance in "neighborhood" driving. But once you get into a more open area and higher speed limits, the difference is remarkable.

My car came equipped with PSE but honestly am a little underwhelmed by how much noise it puts out.

2012 Boxster S Black Edition here. Bought it new in 2012 but it did not come with PSE. I recently had it installed by a Porsche dealer and couldn't be happier. (I had the whole system including the switch installed for $3950 including sales tax.)

It's not crazy loud but it has a nice low end sound and it "sings" when you get the revs up. It should be the standard exhaust in my opinion.

Before I made my final decision, I listed to a bunch of online videos of various exhausts. Let's just say it's a waste of time because you'll never hear the true sound from a video. I don't think a cell phone or any small video camera will have the frequency response to capture the low end sound and you wouldn't hear it from cell phone or computer speakers even if it had been captured.

My best advice is try to hear one in person, which ever exhaust you decide on.

For me, the PSE did the trick and I'm very happy with it.

I think it's safe to say the PSE is livelier, but not aggressive. If that's what you're after, then it's a good option.

I personally just did the Carnewal mod as I felt that was a better bang for my buck. I had the PSE on my 981 and really liked it, but didn't wanna spend $4k to add it. Once my car's back up & running, I'll make a thread with some clips with my RODE mic that does a much better job of recording audio than any cell phone or GoPro mic (which is used on most videos).

Yes I have it, had it on my 987.1 and my current 987.2. I personally think it sounds amazing and use it every time. For me PSE or similar aftermarket is an absolute must. I put a Rasp-X and Borla setup on my last e46 and that was pretty good as well, but the PSE sounds better.

I had PSE added to my 2011 Cayman S at the Porsche dealership and felt it was worth spending the money ($3600 w/PCA discount) You will enjoy the difference.

Had PSE on both my 2011 Spyder and 2012 Cayman R (both came with it). Loved it. It's just a perfect sound for any situation. Never sounds toyish. All but 1 Porsche I've owned had PSE, and that one (997.2 S) I added a Cargraphic exhaust from Germany which honestly I didn't like near as much. Will never not have PSE again.

Have had PSE with and without sport headers, still too quiet. With valves open it sounds better but no enough to make me happy. Added an M&M valved exhaust distributed by FVD and there is a noticeable improvement. Valved close sounds civilized. Valves open, snap, crackle, pop and you can at least hear the exhaust in the car. Outside of the car it sounds must better but not offensive.

When ordering my Spyder I was fortunate to drive a 987.2 with and without PSE. After hearing the difference I told the salesman that Porsche should have supplied the car with PSE as standard equipment.

I agree it could be louder but at the same time it’s never unpleasant

987.1 S here, with PSE. It's greeeeeeat! Adds a noticeable positive chunk to the overall experience.

I have PSE on a 2010 Boxster S. It is fantastic. Before my 987.2, I had a 99 996 with muffler bypass. The sound was amazing but the drone got old on long drives. PSE on the 987.2 sounds more exotic to me and has no drone. I wouldn't mind if it were a little louder, but I think the tone is perfect.

This is my only complaint with the 987.2 is it seems they went out of their way to mute the car. An exhaust HAPPILY was the first mod I made.
