Default 5 times as many GT4's as GTS 981 for sale these days

Noticed a ton of GT4's on Autotrader these days... right now there are about 78 GT4's for sale and only 16 GTS's nationwide

there are actully more GT4's available than 981 Cayman S right now and prices seem to be coming down....most are right around $90K these days

Did Porsche make more GT4's than GTS's or are people just dumping the GT4 these days???

I tried to find production number for US but couldn't find any...although it was just a quick search

That's down from the 90+ on Cargurus that were on offer when I was looking for mine. There were more than 120 unique VINs for sale when I was looking for mine.

And the price has finally moved down. Even those listed in panorama seem to be around 87k

A lot of guys have placed deposits on the 718 GT4's & are selling their cars. It's a mistake as far as I'm concerned b/c the car hasn't been officially announced & it's going to be a significant price increase for a essentially a model refresh with new badges & possibly a different motor. Porsche has been making record profits the last few years, & if there's a demand for a car, they're producing it. Many new GT3RS's have been showing up at our local dealership, who went on & on about a low production GT car etc, etc. What a bunch of bunk!

The street version of the GT4 was a manual transmission car and was not offered with a PDK.

The Clubsport version of the GT4 was available with the PDK.

The six-speed manual has been traded for a PDK automatic. Of course, this double-clutch gearbox shifts faster, but it's also about racing durability. Without a third pedal, there's no possibility of a missed shift or botched heel-toe that could cause mechanical damage. “

What I wonder (but don't actually feel like doing the research on) is whether or not the GT4s are selling for a much higher percentage of original MSRP when compared to the Cayman GTS and S. If so, I "think" that would explain the flood of cars on the market. Lots of GT4 owners bought the cars not to be the long-term keepers, but to enjoy for awhile and then sell for close to what they paid. With the new Cayman GT4 coming, I'm betting a lot of those owners are trying to get out while the getting is good.

I read an article once that made a lot of sense to me... the "true" enthusiasts for the GT cars are the 2nd and 3rd owners, rarely the 1st owners. It seemed a bit counter-intuitive to me at first, but it makes sense now.

That is not a new development. In fact there are less on the market then 6 months ago when I bought.
To answer your question, I think there were a little over 2000 sold in the US, but don't quote me on it.

I also think the prices will hold relatively firm. The new GT4 might actually boost used prices again, as many will come to realize that there will be a massive premium to pa for just a slightly refreshed car.

It’s too bad they didn’t offer it with a PDK. Our Cayman is our first Porsche with an auto box and it’s a blast to drive either with or without using the paddles.

define "a ton"

if you think there are a lot of GT4s for sale, check out the GT3...4 times as many for sale
as mentioned, the number for sale has actually decreased by 20% to 30%
if you want one, buy it & drive it
the days of flippers and ADMs are probably part of the past
cars depreciate and Porsche has helped by building a boat load of GT3s

Don’t know what you guys are looking at but a quick trip thru the market shows prices where they’ve been, anything lowish miles, low-mid 90’s with several very low mile, well optioned, mid 90’s to low 100’s.

When I first started sniffing around Autotrader a couple months ago, most were in the mid to high 90's..... now there are multiple low mile examples in the 80's and even one asking like $78k for a 8000 mile red one....I've seen a few on there that were once asking $98k are now asking $92k .

$90k seems to be the sweet spot right now, but there are plenty(16) to choose from in the 80's now.

Seems to be quite a price range for some cars that look identical also right now.
