Getting a 987.2 caught up on maintenance - cost?
I am considering a 987.2 base that is in solid condition but doesn't have much of the time and mile maintenance requirements met. Namely - plugs, belt, and PDK fluid filter change.
Any idea the right price for an Indy do these - all at once? Anything else to get while they are in there ? (40k miles) Thanks in advance. |
I would estimate $2500 to get all fluids and maintenance up to date.

Are you able to DIY at all?
Plugs are not difficult with a lift. Brakes are a cinch. Oil change also not difficult. Differential fluid is drain and fill. Coolant is also easy if you buy an airlift tool. PDK fluid should be less than $500 at Indy. |
Plugs and belt alone at a good indy with reasonable labor rates will be over $1k. Add in pdk fluid, brakes (fluid flush at least), oil change and all filters changed then you're looking at $2k. One of the main reasons I need to stick with one car is that I always rehab the car up to spec with the maintenance then get bored and sell for another P car. I keep doing maintenance for the next owner! I've already done a bunch on the one I just bought and I have belt and PDK fluid up next January.

I've wrenched enough - prefer pros. Thanks for the brake flush mention - yes - that too.

~2K. I just did it. This includes fluids, belt, pump, thermostat, plugs, etc.
Numeric shifter cables should be mandatory too... |
I have the PDK and was quoted 500 for the transmission fluid change from an indy in Carrollton Tx.

Just paid $1100 at a dealer for annual service, drive belt, and PDK clutch fluid. The PDK trans service is a 12 year item.
PDK clutch will have to be done at dealer/indy with appropriate equipment. I considered the drive belt replacement, lots of online vids show it to be very accessible and easy, but at the end of the day just easier for the dealer to handle. Hope this helps. |
All of this helps - thanks everyone.
